MDS Leukemia – Living With the Disease

MDS (or Myelodysplastic Syndromes) generally refer to a group of blood cancers. Other types of MDS are non-progressive and may have no definite effect on the patient’s health. While other sub-types are slow-progressive and may be related to leukemia, which will definitely have serious effects on one’s health and life expectancy.

Myleodysplastic syndromes typically affect the cell-forming activities in the bone marrow. These cells are normally developed into mature red or white blood cells and platelets before they flow out to bloodstream. Myleodysplastic syndromes prevent blood cell formation. When blast cells in the bone marrow and blood are significantly higher, but dying before or after release into the bloodstream; the non-functional cells will continuously build-up inside the bone marrow. These abnormal activities of the blood cells may develop into a disease called MDS Leukemia. (more…)

Be Safe and Know More Through Colon Cleanse Reviews

With so much alternative means and detoxifying methods, one asks if there is an unbiased and a solidly objective colon cleanse review in the mainstream media. Adding to the hype is the heavy flow of infomercials everywhere, the internet and the unabashed publication of the so-called “natural” healthy lifestyle. Flashy commercials on colon cleansers like the pill, patch or potion are so attractive that the unsuspecting individual soon fall victim to the dangers.

With the influx of health institutions and their claims, as well as the barrage of product sales talk by agents everywhere, it is indeed a difficult task to discern your options. Many colon cleanse reviews are self-serving and funded by entities promoting such method of detoxification. Their prime motive is sales and production, yours is your well-being. Along the way, these two do not meet at a certain point most of the time, hence, your understanding on colon cleanse methods and the information you get may not be all factual. (more…)

University Studies Show Household Cleaners May Be One Cause of Breast Cancer

In recent studies conducted by scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, researchers found many household cleaners emit toxic pollutants that, over time, will lead to health risks, and may be one cause of breast cancer in women.

Scientists searching for the cause of breast cancer in relation to poor indoor air quality, identified a link between toxic household cleaners and an on set of escalating diseases associated with toxic chemical poisoning.

The American Association of Poison Control Centers reported the largest occurrences of household poisoning are directly related to cleaners such as, toilet bowl cleaners, bleach, detergents and air fresheners. (more…)

Cancer Caused of Too Much Acidity in the Body

Biochemist Otto Heinrich Warburg, one of the twentieth century’s leading cell biologists, discovered that the root cause of cancer is too much acidity in the body, meaning that the pH, potential hydrogen, in the body is below the normal level of 7.365, which constitutes an “acidic” state. Warburg investigated the metabolism of tumors and the respiration of cells and discovered that cancer cells maintain and thrive in a lower pH, as low as 6.0, due to lactic acid production and elevated CO2. He firmly believed that there was a direct relationship between pH and oxygen. Higher pH, which is Alkaline, means higher concentration of oxygen molecules, while lower pH, which is acidic, means lower concentrations of oxygen…the same oxygen that is needed to maintain healthy cells.

In 1931 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for this important discovery. Dr. Warburg was director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute (now Max Planck Institute) for cell physiology at Berlin. He investigated the metabolism of tumors and the respiration of cells, particularly cancer cells. Below are some direct quotes by Dr. Warburg during medical lectures where he was the keynote speaker:

“Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Water splits into H+ and OH- ions, if there is an excess of H+, it is acidic; if there is an excess of OH- ions, then it is alkaline.” (more…)

Clothing For UV Protection – A Reliable Defense For Premature Aging and Skin Cancer

Why do we need special clothing for UV protection? UV or ultraviolet radiation is part of the sun’s radiation that we receive as sunlight here on earth. Ultraviolet rays which are of concern to us as human beings can be separated into UVB and UVA. Until recently UVB rays were recognised as the strongest part of ultraviolet radiation and mostly responsible for producing sunburn and skin cancer. However, recent studies at Sydney University in Australia, found that UVA rays, that penetrate more deeply into the skin do more harm. This is more likely to be the cause of skin cancer. UVA has long been known to cause premature aging of the skin. This is caused by reducing its elasticity and strength, resulting in wrinkles, thinning, variations in pigmentation and broken capillaries. Both UVB and UVA rays can cause damage to the skin. Wearing clothing for UV protection is one of the best ways to avoid the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays.

It is known that a certain amount of exposure to the sun is necessary to synthesise vitamin D within our bodies. This is for the prevention of rickets, for healthy bone growth and, in its active form, is an important hormone in regulating cell growth. It is also known that short term and long term exposure to UVB and UVA radiation can have serious consequences for human health. A good suntan was and is still looked upon as a sign of good health, whereas, the opposite is probably true. Over exposure to the sun can cause sunburn which is a mild form of radiation burn. It is estimated that one third of the time it takes for sunburn to occur, can significantly inhibit the action of the immune cells in the skin. This could compromise the body’s immune system and its ability to fight skin cancer. (more…)
