Vitamin D sure is in the news a lot lately. In fact, a recent statistic showed that up to 80 percent of American adults are deficient in vitamin D! That’s a startling fact, especially considering all of the health benefits vitamin D can have, from keeping your heart healthy to staving off dementia and cancer. Now, a new study has shown that there’s an asthma-vitamin D connection – especially if you’re a mom-to-be. Let’s take a look at this recent discovery.

An insufficiency of Vitamin D may be linked to the severity of asthma symptoms in children, according to a new study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. According to the study, a higher intake of vitamin D by pregnant women can reduce the risk of asthma in children as much as 40 percent.

Pregnant women who were vitamin D deficient had more of a chance of having a child who suffered from asthma and other allergies, according to the studies. The prostate is a gland that is part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum just below the bladder. The primary role of the prostate gland is to squeeze fluid into the urethra when sperm spurts out through the penis during sexual climax.

As a man ages

The prostate gets bigger as a man gets older. This is an inevitable sign of aging, just as similar to having gray hair or wrinkles. This condition is known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). When the prostate gets larger, the surrounding layer of tissue stops it from expanding. This causes the prostate gland to press against the urethra. This in turn causes the bladder wall to become thicker resulting in the frequent urge to urinate even when there is a small amount of urine.

Symptoms of prostate cancer

The most common prostate cancer early symptoms are difficulty in urinating are difficulty in urinating and the urgency to leak. Ovarian cyst is a well known disease of women today. You should be aware of it because though most cysts are harmless, some can risk your health and may cause your death. Ovarian cysts are small fluid-filled sacs similar to blisters that develop in the ovaries of a woman. Women are more likely to have this disease during their reproductive years. The cysts are form on the two almond sized organs on each side of the uterus called ovaries. It can be classified as cancerous and non cancerous. Non cancerous cysts are harmless and go away without any treatment. But serious case can cause pain, bleeding and even death.

In an ovarian cyst ultrasound, ovarian cysts look like bubbles containing fluid surrounded by a thin wall. Such kind of cyst is called a functional cyst or simple cyst. Forming of cyst in the ovaries is caused by the fluids that remain on it when a follicle fails to rupture and release egg. It is normal to see small cysts in a normal ovary while follicles are being formed.

Women, regardless of age can have ovarian cyst. Majority of the cysts formed are considered benign, they are not harmful and nothing to do with the disease. Having cancer is a life changing event that is extremely difficult to overcome. When one of your children is diagnosed with cancer, it can almost kill you to know that there is not much you can do.

I am a cancer survivor, and I know that is was very hard for my family to see how sick I was. Now my stepdaughter has been diagnosed with leukemia, and it was like being kicked in the stomach when I heard the news. It has just been a few days since we found out, so I am still in shock from it all.

When you are dealing with someone who has just been diagnosed with cancer or any other life-threatening disease, be careful what you say to them. It is so hard to find just the right words, so sometimes it is best not to say too much right away. I was tempted to say something to her about not having to worry, because we would find a way to make it all go away, but I know that is not true. I wanted to tell her that we would go to every hospital and spend as much money as it would take to get her well, but that is not the reality of the situation.
