With the growth of asbestos use came the first recorded death in consequence of mesothelioma asbestos cancer. However, instances of mesothelioma — still diagnosed as an unidentified lung disorder — were examined throughout the early 20th century, mainly in asbestos mining towns.

With the entire dispute concerning the way asbestos related disease can be handled in our courts, it is good to retrieve to basics. Exposure to asbestos fibers causes lung questions and cancer. It can cause death. Anybody who is demolishing buildings that may have contained asbestos, anybody living in a home with asbestos in the building or anybody still working with asbestos is at stake.

Being exposed to asbestos can cause a lifetime of suffering, medical bills and even to a premature death. When it comes to helping others affected by leukemia, you can do many things that don’t involve donating money from your own pocket. Let’s face it, some of us just don’t have much money to donate. But don’t let that deter you from helping when you desire to do so.

Here are a few ideas you can use to help leukemia charities and touch those who are affected by the disease.

Cancer of the bowel or colorectal cancer as it is commonly called is cancer that goes after the cells that are around the bowel itself. This type of cancer is really very curable if caught and treated early on. And early on treatment is the key here. If it becomes advanced, the chances of a successful remission of this cancer are smaller.

Basically what happens in bowel cancer, is that there is what is referred to as a mutation occurs. The cells which link back to genes, begin to become uncontrolled, and thus, a number of cells bunch together, forming cancer. Polyps are actually what these formations are called, and in this stage of pre-cancer, are called an adenoma in medical terms. Polyps can be removed via a colonoscopy if found in time. If not found soon enough, these formations of polyps will continue their growth on and on, until they are lodged in the colon, forming the cancer growing environment there. So this explains why a colonoscopy is good preventive care.

Cancer patients’ friends and families often feel helpless and at a loss as to what to do when they learn of a loved one’s diagnosis. While they mean well and want to help, often they are as thrown as the person receiving the diagnosis when they learn that someone close to them has cancer.

As a 10-year cancer survivor and also someone whose Mom, Dad, two aunts, and Grandpa have received cancer diagnoses, I don’t know what’s more challenging: to be the one diagnosed or to learn a loved one or friend is now a cancer patient. As a cancer patient, your job is clear to follow whichever course of treatment you decide upon and then regain your health. As a friend or loved one, your roles and responsibilities are less clear.
