As far as scary words in the English language go, “cancer” is near the top of the list. The good news is that we don’t have to wait around simply hoping that cancer doesn’t affect us and our loved ones. According to scientists in the UK, effective cancer prevention starts with the food on your plate.

The British Journal of Cancer reports optimistic news for vegans. British scientists studied the diets of over 61,000 men and women for 12 years. At the end of 12 years, the scientists recorded how many subjects developed stomach, bladder, ovarian, and lymphatic cancers in the three dietary categories reviewed: vegan, pescetarian, and omnivore. For each type of cancer tested, vegans developed a significantly lower number of cases than did meat eaters. Continue reading ‘Cancer Prevention – Good News For Vegans’ »

Breast cancer is automatically associated with women. There is good reason for this, as it is much more common for women to be diagnosed with breast cancer than men. However, breast cancer in men does exist even though it is quite rare.

It is reported that only 1 percent of the people suffering from breast cancer are actually men. The main reason why people do not think that male breast cancer actually exists is because men don’t have breasts. However, they do have breast tissue. This breast tissue in men normally stays small and flat. Some men develop what look like medium or large breasts. The stages inside Breast Cancer Stage Two can be rather different! So, before we tell you the exact survival rate stat records, we need to go back and describe a bit how is breast cancer staged.

The stage is being assigned depending on how invasive (or not) it is, how many lymph nodes are taken by the cancer, has it spread to other parts of the body, and finally, the stage depends on the size of the tumor.

If the cancer is diagnosed as breast cancer stage 2, and it has not spread to the lymph nodes, and it’s diameter is under 2 centimeters, the 5 year survival rate is 88%-92% according to the statistics of the (American) National Cancer Institute.
