Smokers trying to stop have tried patches, pills, diets and cold turkey with little or partial success. The smokers desire to handle a cigarette and feel the inhale usually out weighs giving up the habit without the aid of a cigarette fixation that most programs lack. There is one exception and that is the electronic cigarette. Most of the world never heard of electronic cigarettes until a few years ago. Technology has provided the smoker with the choice of selecting an alternative to the smoking problem in every corner of the land. E-Cig was one of the first to engage in the research and development of the electronic cigarette in 2003 and started marketing the product which has set a standard for others to follow in 2004. Internet World Wide Web site for marketing the electronic cigarette was created by E-cig around 2005. The electronic cigarette before 2005 had only one established taste and one fixed amount of nicotine per cig. Electronic cigarette providers today have greatly increased and improved by adding new popular product features like the new two piece cig to compliment the one piece, the identical traditional size cig to go with all the larger ones and the large choice of tastes and densities and new atomizers all at a competitive prices for refined smokers. Malignant mesothelioma is a cancer, where the cells in the linings of chest or abdomen, thought it is rare type of cancer it is caused by working where you are exposed to asbestos particles in air.
The Malignant mesothelioma is affecting of the layer of specialized cells called mesotheliali cells that line the inside of chest, abdomen and space around heart. These cells also form a cover to the outer surface of most of internal organs i.e. this lining of cells is called mesothelium. This lining of mesothelium protects organs by making a special lubricating fluid that allows organs to move around. For example to explain the importance of fluid, it makes lungs to move inside the chest easier during breathing. The mesotheliums have different names in different parts of human body:
• In chest: pleura.
• In abdomen: peritoneum.
• In the space around the heart: pericardium.
Tumors of the mesothelium can be non- cancerous and even cancerous that is malignant. (more…)
Pure beta carotene may not be bad for smokers after all. The findings that smokers have to shun pure beta carotene may not yet be as conclusive as the need for them to quit smoking. This has been the standpoint of a German professor from the Institute for Biological Chemistry and Nutrition at the University of Hohenheim. Prof. Hans Konrad Biesalski asserts that the population-based study announcing that long-term intake of pure beta carotene and other carotenoids may increase likelihood of cancer in smokers is flawed. He questioned the validity of the methodology, statistical evaluations and speculative explanations of the said study.
The professor said that the study conducted by researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill depended on a questionnaire which was critical to its shortcoming. Using the said questionnaire, subjects were asked to recall on the specifics of food supplements that they had taken, which for some was ten years ago. Because of this intervening time, the professor finds it hard to believe that the participants of the study were able to accurately remember the details of their intake, including frequency of intake, sequence, and composition of the products containing micronutrients, four or ten years ago.
