Malignant esophageal cancer tumors can affect the health of patients leading to different health problems. The disease starts as a condition called as barrett’s esophagus. About 90 percent of esophageal tumors are found to be malignant and they are only detected at later stages. Malignant esophageal cancer is spreading all over the world in huge numbers and in alarming rates.
Like various other types of cancer malignant esophageal cancer is not a hereditary one. Various other factors like diet or smoking too are not known exactly to cause esophageal cancer. Many believe that radiation of high doses is responsible for the cause of esophageal tumors.
Malignant esophageal cancer cells spread in three different ways in body. One way of spreading cancer is through tissues. The cancerous cells invade and destroy the normal tissues surrounding them. The next way of spreading happens via lymph system and travels via the vessels to other body parts. Malignant esophageal cancer cells also spread via blood where the cancerous cells invades the capillaries and veins and travels via blood to various other parts of the body.
