Mesothelioma is a disease characterized by scattered pulmonary fibrosis from the infiltration of asbestos dust into the lungs. Recent laws limit the usage of asbestos, but a lot of industries used it in the past. Hence, exposure occurred, and may still happen, in many jobs, comprising of manufacturing and mining of asbestos, shipbuilding, demolition of structures containing asbestos, and roofing. Further diseases connected to asbestos exposure include lung cancer, asbestosis, and asbestos pleural effusion.

The amount of exposure that leads to disease in people is up for debate. While there are numerous cases of factory or other workers that have had heavy exposure to free, friable exposure for several years developing disease, there are also cases where exposure has been as short as some months or only a few weeks. Intensity of exposure is most probable as relevant as length of time.

Dust of asbestos is a vicious thing. Due to the chemical structure of the material, the dust is like a cloud of fine glass particles. While they will not harm your skin, they do great harm to the lungs. Making matters worse, asbestos dust is so fine that it is simply raised from asbestos material like ceiling tiles and walls. Once in the air, it is all but unseen.

While you’re performing a renovation project, below are a number of helpful tips to remove asbestos dust:

- It’s best to make use of hand tools to minimize the release of dust. Power tools are more probable to damage asbestos surfaces.

- If you require to sand, make it wet sand. Dry sanding releases asbestos fibres into the air.

- Moisten the asbestos material before working with it to reduce the danger of dust being released. Do not make use of a high-pressure jet.

- Increasing some dish-washing liquid to the water you use will assist soak up asbestos particles.

- Do not make use of an abrasive blasting system or any other high-pressure techniques to clean asbestos roofing, siding or cladding. Always make use of a low-pressure system.

- Clean the area you have been working in completely. Dispose of any waste cautiously and in reference to your local laws.

“Summer is the time when one sheds one’s tensions with one’s clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all’s right with the world.”

Now that is a quote from Ada Louise Huxtable and it sure is true. For many people, summer is the time to go back to their childhood, to relieve themselves of the stress that they have gone through for the past seasons, and to just bask in what nature has to offer. This is the time when all cares are usually set aside and it is the season to enjoy. After all, this is the best part of the year when you can do pretty much everything and it is the time when you can spend a lot of time with loved ones and family. That is the beauty of summer.

This is the time that people usually get out of their houses and just take in the rays of the sun. But if you just do not know, having too much sun on your skin can not be that good. See, it can lead to skin cancer and this is why you should know just what to do to protect your skin against such a condition.

Experts suggest that if you really want to take advantage of the sun this summer, you should know what to avoid. For example, you can try to stay out of the hot rays during the hot hours of each day. The hot hours start at ten in the morning to around four in the afternoon. The rest of the day, you can enjoy the sun. Now if you cannot help but be out there, then make sure that you put on sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you venture outside. Make sure to put on additional sunscreen after around two to three hours. If you are doing activities that make you sweat or maybe you are swimming, then reapply after every hour.

The stronger the SPF that you find on your sunblock, the better that it would be for your skin. Make sure that you cover every inch of your body that will be exposed to the sun. You do not want to waste all that facial lotion and the facial creams you put on your face to keep it youthful just because you wanted to take advantage of the outdoors this summer.

Gerald Shaw is a voracious reader. Maybe that’s why he writes so well.

The odds (to use a wagering term) of developing prostate cancer are fairly high for men in the United States of America. One man in thirty five will die of cancer of the prostate. One out of every six men will be affected by cancer of the prostate during their life time. You can improve those odds.

Scientific studies have shown that increasing the intake of Omega 3 fatty acids can change these odds dramatically. This is even so for men who are genetically more likely to develop prostate cancer.

The studies conducted correlated the consumption of food types to the occurrence of prostate cancer and the conclusions were that men who ate more fish than meat were less likely to develop cancer of the prostate. Men who ate fish rich in Omega 3 fats between one and three times a month were more than thirty percent less likely to develop cancer of the prostate. This percentage was increased to over fifty percent when Omega 3 rich fish were eaten at least once a week.

Men who have a variant of the COX-2 gene are known to be more likely to develop prostate cancer. The studies showed that men who ate fish rich in Omega 3 fats were five times less likely to develop cancer of the prostate than men who ate no such fish. Those are dramatic changes to the odds.

For men who have already been diagnosed with cancer of the prostate increasing the intake of Omega 3 fats can help fight the cancer and extend the life expectancy. Now that’s changing the odds in your favor.

Other studies have shown that the Omega 3 fats DHA and EPA can stop the growth of cancer cells. The balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids affects the growth of cancer cells. Reducing or eliminating foods containing Omega 6 fatty acids and increasing the intake of Omega 3 fats can slow or stop the continued development of cancer of the prostate.

Dark oily fish are one of the richest sources of Omega 3 fatty acids. Fish such as tuna, salmon and mackerel are among the most common sources of these fatty acids. Flax oil and walnuts are an alternative vegetarian source.

Omega 3 fish oil capsules are a convenient and safe way of increasing your intake of Omega 3 fatty acids. They are pure and concentrated and easy to take.

These capsules are manufactured from raw fish oil using a process known as stripping or micro distillation. This process eliminates impurities such as methyl mercury. The end product is pure and rich in the essential Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA.

By taking Omega 3 fish oil capsules you can reduce your chances of developing prostate cancer.

Change the odds in your favor today.

Once called a silent killer of women, ovarian cancer was considered to be symptom free up to the point that the cancerous growths had reach critical mass and most likely already spread to other organs. Diagnosis would then be made because of symptoms the other organ manifests, in turn leading doctors to the source of the problem, often times too late for many sufferers to undergo successful treatment.

Nevertheless, in recent years experts and researchers have determined that when comparing case studies of various patients presenting with ovarian cancer, across the board there appeared to be a general agreement about similar feelings of discomfort that took place well before the diagnosis. This has caused the medical industry to rectify its opinion of ovarian cancer and it is no longer considered a symptom free illness, but instead one that has symptoms so subtle that unless the patient knows what to look for, they are likely missed or attributed to other problems.

1. There is frequent or recurring pain in the abdomen. Initially many respondents of the studies had suggested that it felt a bit like constipation, bloating, or gas pains, but because the pains lasted so much longer than the average bout of constipation, it soon became obvious that there was more going on than indigestion.

2. It could be ovarian cancer if you feel abdominal bloating. Sure, it might be the food you ate or the period that is just around the corner, but if it continues for more than a week, something might be amiss.

3. Frequent urination is another symptom but sadly is frequently missed since many a woman is religiously precise in drinking her water and frequent urination is considered par for the course.

So, Could it be irritable bowel syndrome? Could it be ovarian cancer? Could it be the onset of another disease or condition that imitates the same symptoms? The “what if” questions may continue non stop, yet unless a woman is willing to acknowledge the warning signs her body is giving off, precious little will answer her health related worries and questions. Too often she may think them to be too minor to mention to her doctor or – what makes this disease so dangerous – she will learn to live with them.

Although adaptability is a sought after trait in the theory of evolution, when it comes to detecting the early warning signs of ovarian cancer, it may be a contributing factor to death. Physicians involved in the studies have declared that any of the symptoms individually or in combination with one or both of the others should be grounds for concern and if the symptom persists for one week, heightened attention must be paid. If two weeks go by and the symptoms persist, a doctor’s appointment must be scheduled for the first available time slot and if three weeks pass and the symptoms continue, it is time to set up an appointment with a specialist.

Could it be ovarian cancer? Maybe; either way, you owe it to yourself and those who love you to find out for sure.

My name is Juliet Taylor, and I decided to create the website http://www.bodytalk1on1.com when I discovered the many problems that I have developed in my body, that many other people themselves are faced with, but become so trouble because of lack of knowledge about that condition. So, I decide to create this website to inform people on different types of conditions that affects our body. People say what you don’t know won’t hurt you, but I beg to differ, because know that you have a condition in the development of it’s early stage will make a ton of difference.

Asbestos found in buildings has long resulted in the need for costly removal process. Asbestos encapsulant is a different method to the lethal asbestos issue.

Asbestos can be damaging if not handled appropriately. It is very significant if you have damaged areas that are supposed to contain asbestos, that you get them inspected and removed if necessary. It is also significant to keep in mind that undamaged asbestos posses no immediate damage and if coated will prevent further problems.

Asbestos in buildings has been forbidden in the United States. Building owners confront the prospect of dealing with asbestos in their buildings. The old approach was to do a costly removal. The process was untidy, expensive and pretty much a nightmare. The thought of asbestos encapsulation was proffered and the practice is now an accepted approach for dealing with asbestos in buildings. As the name implies, the areas of asbestos are encapsulated with a sturdy material. This keeps any asbestos from becoming airborne and causing a host of physical condition problems.

However, there are a few different methods to cope with and remove asbestos from your home. Sealing or asbestos encapsulation is where unharmed asbestos is coated with a substance that stops the asbestos fibers from becoming airborne. If the asbestos is not intact and is crumbling or damaged then it must be covered or remove. It is significant to look for the assistance of a professional in this matter.

The major benefits of encapsulation are readily noticeable. Firstly, the offending asbestos material remains in place and hazardous fibers are not kicked up during the destruction practice. Secondly, the fire resistant advantages of asbestos remain in place because the material is still in the building. Third, the price of encapsulating is almost always much cheaper than removing the material.

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) is a cancer that may be caused by long term or intense exposure to benzene. This group of cancers is fairly rare and is derived from lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell. The many subtypes of this cancer are mostly categorized by their aggressiveness and speed of progress. The not so aggressive (slow-growing) form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma will change a person’s life for a long period of time whereas the more aggressive (fast-growing) type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma can be fatal.

A British physician, Thomas Hodgkin, found and defined the first form of lymphoma in 1832. Later, a pathologist, Henry Rappaport, proposed The Rappaport classification which became the accepted classification of lymphomas other than Hodgkin’s.

Lymphoma Linked with Benzene Exposure

Scientists have linked exposure to benzene with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is known that benzene is derived from vehicle exhaust emissions. Benzene is also frequently used in pesticides, drugs, and rubbers. Many people who have been around the chemical benzene have developed some type of leukemia. Having these cancers have altered their lives tremendously and have even been fatal.

Some Known Symptoms linked to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

There are a variety of symptoms that have been linked to Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma:

* Unintentional weight loss

* Severe itchiness

* Nighttime sweats

* Swollen lymph nodes

* Swelling in the abdominal region

* Pain in the chest area

If you or someone you know has been exposed to benzene you will want to contact an attorney who has experience with benzene cases. This will insure that you receive the legal advice and guidance you need and deserve.

Skin is the final layer and largest organ of our human system. Skin is made up of multiple layers of mesoderm tissues which protect our muscles, ligaments, bones and other internal organs lying underneath. Human skin is a thin layer which acts as a protecting agent from infections and pathogens, excessive water loss, and insulation. It regulates and maintains the human body temperature without any fluctuations.

Skin helps in sensation, synthesis, storage of vitamin D and vitamin B which helps in cell growth and reproduction, secretion of sweat. For breathing it absorbs small amount of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. There are various skin types like oily, dry, normal, combination skin.

Skin is primarily composed of three layers. Namely epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Epidermis is the outer layer which consists of basal and squamous cells. Melanocyte is a cell in the basal layer of epidermis. This produces melanin under the control of the melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It gives pigmentation to the skin which causes skin tanning. It also protects the deeper layer of the skin from exposure to UV light rays. The dermis which lies below the epidermis consists of blood vessels, connective tissues, hair follicles and the sweat glands.

The subcutaneous layer which is the deepest layer of the skin contains fat cells. Uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells in any layer of the skin ultimately leads to skin cancer. There are 3 common forms of skin cancer and these 3 are classified according to the types of cells affected. The most common form of skin cancer is called as basal cell carcinoma.

This is not a serious one but it requires treatment. This is quite common in the areas which are exposed to sunlight. However this doesn’t spread to other cells. Second form is Squamous cell carcinoma which develops in the middle layer of the epidermis. This is quite dangerous and it may lead to death if it is not treated properly. Third one is malignant melanoma which spreads quickly to other cells and causes quick damage. This type of skin cancer is dangerous if not detected and treated early. People with fair skin are at an increased risk for developing this form of cancer.

To prevent skin cancer better avoid exposing your skin to the sunlight between 10.00am to 4.00pm when the rays are at high intensity. In unavoidable conditions apply sunscreen lotions, Comfortable dressings to cover your hands, neck, face and head.

Surgery is the common treatment to overcome skin cancer diseases. However treatment depends on the patient’s age factor, overall health and medical history. Cancer stages also play a vital role in treatment. It takes about 28 to 35 days for the process of producing a new healthy skin.

Prostate cancer is a killer. Cancer of the prostate will kill about three percent of men in the United States of America annually. During their life time sixteen percent of men will experience the effects of cancer of the prostate. It is the second most common cancer, second only to skin cancer. It is also the second deadliest cancer, being second to lung cancer.

Men most prone to prostate cancer are

* Men who carry a variant of the COX-2 gene
* Men with a life style that makes them susceptible to cancer of the prostate.

Genetically affected males can be tested and being aware that they are carrying this gene. They can then take the precautions that will decrease their chances of developing prostate cancer and increasing their life expectancy should they develop cancer of the prostate.

Males who are not genetically prone but who are at risk of cancer of the prostate are those who are overweight, smoke or abuse alcohol. Other lifestyle factors also affect the possibility of developing cancer of the prostate.

Precautions that can be taken by both groups include life style changes such as:

* Reducing weight if overweight.
* Reducing or avoiding alcohol consumption.
* Stopping or reducing smoking.
* Dietary changes are an important precaution

You can and should take action to prevent and reduce the effects of prostate cancer.

Dietary changes have been shown to have a very positive outcome in the fight to prevent cancer of the prostate. These changes can also increase your chances of survival and life expectancy if you have been diagnosed with cancer of the prostate.

Studies into the dietary frequency of men have shown that increasing the amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids in the diet can dramatically improve the outlook for avoiding or reducing the effects of prostate cancer. Men who ate fish containing these Omega 3 fats one to three times a month reduced the risk of prostate cancer by thirty six percent over those who ate no fish. Similarly men who ate these fish once a week reduced their risk rate by a whopping fifty seven percent.

In other studies it was found that increased consumption of Omega 3 fats and reducing the consumption of Omega 6 fats could halt the growth of cancer cells in the prostate.

The conclusion then is that men must include oily fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and mackerel as a regular part of their diet while also making the other life style changes mentioned above. Where fish are not regularly available or there is a resistance to eating fish Omega 3 fish oil capsules are an excellent alternative.

Omega 3 fish oil capsules are one of the supplements that have been shown to have a positive effect in preventing prostate cancer and extending the life expectancy of those diagnosed with the disease. Manufactured from raw fish oil which is then purified and concentrated using a process called micro distillation, these capsules are free of contaminants such as mercury and rich in the beneficial Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. They are convenient to take and cost effective.

Using Omega 3 fish oil capsules is not a quick fix against prostate cancer. Rather it is a long term strategy to avoid and reduce the effects of cancer of the prostate.

Take action today to improve you health and avoid prostate cancer by starting a daily routine of Omega 3 fish oil capsules.

Workers who have been exposed to asbestos may often find themselves at a loss for finding relevant and substantial information regarding treatment options, legal recourse, or proactive lifestyle changes. Additionally, those who have been inadvertently exposed to asbestos via an environmental hazard or through unforeseen events may be unaware of available resources. Though individuals may often feel that there are few viable resources, there are several options for affected workers and individuals to pursue.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website offers an extensive base of knowledge among a wide assortment of topics. Environmental topics such as water quality and food safety are present among other hazards like asbestos in construction, the home, or the workplace. The site presents an exceptionally wide survey of asbestos and exposure to the toxic chemical, going in depth into the minutia of asbestos facts and figures. Also present on the site is a detailed examination of products and chemicals containing asbestos, health effects of short term and prolonged exposure, naturally occurring asbestos, and tips for asbestos abatement professionals. This provides one of the most complete resources available free of charge on the Internet.

The United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) also offers several resources regarding asbestos exposure and toxicity. The primary focus of the OSHA page is information regarding asbestos exposure on job sites, buildings potentially containing asbestos, and several strategies for combating asbestos exposure. OSHA also is responsible for oversight of projects involving asbestos abatement and regulations regarding proper standards of removal and safety for workers on job sites. The EPA and OSHA websites provide similar guidelines for identifying, handling, and removing asbestos, as well as safety tips for those working in areas where asbestos exposure could become an issue. Additionally, the site provides several links to separate pages covering topics such as asbestos exposure evaluation, asbestos safety training, and safety systems implemented to protect workers.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) provides yet another valuable resource for those seeking additional information outside of these sites. The CPSC website has an incredible backlog of records and reports covering almost every topic related to consumers in the United States; from recalled toys for children to unsafe house paint. The CPSC also contains information about products containing asbestos, contaminated vermiculite, and locations where asbestos may be present. The documents also contain lists of investigations of manufacturers and producers of products containing asbestos.

Asbestos exposure is highly hazardous and presents dangers to the individual that they would not normally experience. Severe and potentially deadly medical conditions such as lung cancer, asbestosis, or mesothelioma can result from even a small amount of exposure. Oftentimes, those exposed to asbestos incur costly medical bills and pursue an asbestos mesothelioma lawsuit to receive compensation.

Individuals seeking information regarding mesothelioma are encouraged to visit LegalView.info for access to a wealth of resources, including developing a Asbestos Mesothelioma Lawsuit and contacting a Asbestos Mesothelioma Attorney.

Most people familiar with Leukemia know that a bone marrow transplant is the final option to cure the Leukemia. A Leukemia patient must find a matching donor so their body does not reject the stem cells taken from the bone marrow of the donor. Usually the matching donor is of the same race or descent as the patient. A German usually matches with perhaps an American of German descent. Or a Chinese American might match with a Chinese donor and so on.

Unfortunately, there is a shortage of matching donors in minority patients. Therefore, if an end stage Leukemia patient is unable to find a matching donor, the result could be death. This is especially true in the African American community. About 8% of donors in the Bone Marrow Registry are African Americans. Up to 80% of African American patients in need of a bone marrow transplant are unable to find a match.

Such was the case of Courtney Parham, a young African American woman who was diagnosed with Leukemia just after graduating from high school. She was in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant to save her life. But like most African American patients could not find a matching donor. Faced with death, Courtney’s doctors decided on the much less known Cord Blood Stem Cell transplant. Courtney would be implanted with Adult Stem Cells taken from a baby’s umbilical cord.

To make a long story short, the Adult Stem Cells did the trick. Courtney is now cured of her Leukemia and now attending college. Since her life-altering experience with Leukemia, she has become an advocate of registering and donating bone marrow.

This is a story on why donors are so important. It is very simple for the donor to save a life. Potential donors can go to the website marrow.org and find more information on how to register. The national bone marrow is actively encouraging donors from minorities as there is currently a severe shortage. Parents of newborn babies can also donate their cord blood (or store it in case they need it). This cord blood can be used to help patients such as Courtney, patients who are given a second chance at life due to a simple donation.

The Repair Stem Cell Institute is a public-service company formed to educate, teach, and help patients with chronic diseases and conditions to find qualified doctors who provide Adult Stem Cell therapy to improve the patient’s quality of life.

The Repair Stem Cell Institute website http://www.repairstemcells.org has a list of diseases and injuries that are now being treated with adult stem cells. The site also tells the reader where and how to seek out that particular stem cell treatment.

Adult Stem Cells (AKA Repair Stem Cells) can now help more than 100 diseases and conditions. The Repair Stem Cell Institute provides the latest up to date information on these adult stem cell treatments.

Don Margolis, the founder of the Repair Stem Cell Institute also keeps a blog which he updates almost daily. His blog http://www.donmargolis.com contains the latest successful Adult Stem Cell stories and discoveries.
