One of the many side effects of chemotherapy is that it weakens your immune system which is our repair system that keeps us health. So your main focus when undergoing chemotherapy should be to support the immune system by making some changes, especially with your food choices. There isn’t a drug or a pill that will strengthen this system but only naturally way to achieve that.

One of the many advantages of looking after the immune system during chemotherapy is there will be fewer consequences from the many side effects this treatment has. Also since all cancers are first caused by an immune system that wasn’t functioning properly and allowed cancer cells to develop, doesn’t it make sense to learn about it and what you can do to assist it?

Firstly avoid doing anything that further weakens the immune system so cut down on alcohol, give up smoking which includes avoiding passive smoke, eat less dietary fats that are in fatty meats and butter, cheese and cream. Don’t use chemicals such as fly sprays, hair dyes and personal care products, especially under arm antiperspirants. All these are damaging to the immune system.

Sugar needs a special mention as today it’s found in many of our items we buy at the supermarket. Eating and drinking regular amounts of refined sugar in the form of fizzy drinks, cakes, biscuits and ice cream does nothing to improve our health and has been shown to have a significantly suppressive effect on the immune system. Also many of our food items in packets and cans have added refined sugar so it’s important to read labels.

For the immune system to function efficiently it needs muscular activity and the reasons are to circulate the lymph, which is the lymphatic fluid within this system. It doesn’t have a pump like the heart but relies on everyday activity or some kind of exercise for it to work. Simple exercise like walking greatly stimulates the flow of the lymphatic fluid which plays a key role in helping the fight against cancer.

One of the easiest ways to boost the immune system is through nutrition and it’s all about making the correct choices with your everyday food. Always choose food that is as close to their natural state as possible, such as whole grain products, brown rice and many of the freshly grown and in season fruit and vegetables. Always choose a variety of colours from the dark greens as in broccoli to the reds which are tomatoes and red peppers, orange which are carrots and citrus fruit. All the freshly grown fruits and vegetables are a rich source of antioxidants which play an important role in boosting the immune system.

There are several vitamins that are important in both supporting the immune system and to fight cancer and they are vitamin A which is found in oily fish, sweet potatoes, broccoli and eggs. Another vitamin which we need everyday is vitamin C and is easily found in berry fruit and citrus fruit, kiwi fruit and tomatoes. Vitamin E is also very beneficial and it’s in whole grains, sunflower seeds, nuts and leafy green vegetables.

The immune system is a complex and poorly understood defence mechanism, but this system can support the body through treatments such as chemotherapy so that the side effects of these treatments are minimised.

Cancer can be triggered by many different influences, including penetrating radiation such as X rays, neutrons, and alpha-beta-gamma rays emitted by radioactive substances. Biological effects of radiation have been studied for nearly one hundred years. The first such effect, but not cancer, was observed on Pierre Curie, husband of Marie Curie. After carrying a strong radioactive source in his watch pocket he noticed a red spot on his skin, below the source.

The probability of cancer depends on the dose of radiation received. The purpose of this article is to describe effects associated with different doses. The unit of dose is Sievert (Sv). It is defined in terms of energy deposited in a body by penetrating radiation. As a nuclear physicist, I was often exposed to penetrating radiation. Each time I carried a small dosimeter of one kind or another. Smaller doses are expressed in millisieverts (mSv). The old unit of dose, rem, is still widely used by doctors (1Sv=100 rem).

People often ask me “How is harmful nuclear radiation?” My answer is always the same, “It depends on the dose received.” Then I elaborate, as summarized below.

A dose of 10 Sv will most likely result in death, within a day or two.

5 Sv would kill about 50% of exposed people.

2 Sv can also be fatal, especially without prompt treatment.

0.25 Sv = 250 mSv is the limit for emergency workers in life-saving operations.

0.10 Sv = 100 mSv dose is clearly linked to later cancer risks.

0.05 Sv = 50 mSv is the yearly limit for radiation workers, like myself.

0.004 Sv= 4 mSv is the typical yearly dose due to natural radiation (cosmic rays, etc).

0.003 Sv= 3 mSV is the typical dose from a mammogram.

Cancer is often treated by X rays. This sounds like a paradox; X rays are causing cancer, how can they be used to cure it? Yes, X rays kill living cells and this can lead to cancer. But cancerous cells are killed more rapidly than healthy cells. With a properly chosen dose, for example 0.5 Sv, a radiologist might kill only about 20 healthy cells for each 100 cancerous cells. Several such treatments, for example, one each month, might give a patient an additional two or three years of life, rather than one or less, with no treatment. A dose of 0.5 Sv would never be prescribed to a healthy person. Doses caused by diagnostic uses of X rays are usually much smaller than those received during therapeutic treatments.

We have within us, the seed of who we might be and that can only grow through the nurture of knowledge. At time of terrific threat, we see life with great clarity. In that instant our life passes before us, and all the regrets, hopes and yearnings, that form our personality, present themselves for inspection. Our future is, in that moment, a possibility or an impossibility, depending on the decision that implants itself, right then, as a seed in our mind. The decision we took in that moment, has brought us to this place. The decisions we take now, will set the course of our future direction. Now is the moment of power in our life and knowledge is the fuel.

The various cures for cancer

The more we dig in this field of cancer, the more “cures” we find. I once asked an oncologist why he had not informed us of a particular protocol. “There are too many,” he said without looking up from his notes “if you wish to follow this or that fad, then do so, but I will only offer tried and tested regimes, within the medical framework.” At the time, I was discouraged by his disparaging use of the word “fad” and it was much later, in searching for our particular “cure”, that I slowly came to the understanding that his world and ours, were not too far apart, but it took me a long time to come to such conclusion. Not that I agree with chemotherapy in all cases, nor do I necessarily agree with the medical protocols chosen at the expense of a gentler, natural approach, nor even that an exclusive natural approach should be followed at all cost. Research has shown in some cases that a natural, nutritional approach is no less successful than some chemotherapeutics. Why then would a learned doctor choose a regimen that is guaranteed to make the patient ill, when other natural options are available?

No doubt, we all have our own and individual opinions on the matter and like the many-layered onion, there can be no single answer. After all, we all operate according to our own beliefs, which arise from the cognitive and physical training that is true for us. We are all influenced by significant others in our life, parents, teachers, partners and in the case of doctors, drug companies. If you want to see a person who is likely to dispense drugs and have an answer based on drug protocols, then go to a doctor. If you want to see someone who is likely to advise a natural course of action, following a nutritional approach, go to a naturopath. Simple really.

Anger with Doctors

It is quite common to come across people who have been diagnosed with cancer and who are following a regimen of natural and traditional medicine, to be angry with the Western Medical Model. I have encountered people who spend endless hours deriding doctors and their chemotherapeutic approaches, and quite frankly, I was put off, in those early days, by the venom, and sought my own answers, simply to get away from what I saw as spiritually deficient fellow travelers. It is vitally important to be aware of your company. Who surrounds you? Who influences you? Who do you model, in your effort to achieve what it is that you want to achieve? Personally, I didn’t want to be around people who were bitter and angry all the time. I didn’t want to be around people who had only a singular view of the world.

The doctors I came across were usually, kind, empathetic and gifted human beings. Sure enough, most of them were time poor. Under the pump, one of my children observed, but each and every one, had their patient in mind. Similarly with those who practiced natural medicine, the majority were good, decent human beings who simply wanted to help. So why do so many people feel that they must align themselves with one or the other? Why the anger? Why the xenophobic view of the healing world, the us or them and nothing in between view of healing? Elizabeth Kubler-Ross identified five stages in death and dying and I believe that they are relevant when dealing with a diagnosis of cancer, after all, like it or not, cancer is seen, in Western society at least, as likely to lead to a premature death.

Denial of diagnosis & prognosis

Our immediate reaction to a diagnosis is “No! This can’t be happening to me!” Our natural reaction is to deny and the chasm between what we have heard and our subconscious desire to survive, provides us with a numbness. A cushioned reaction to the physical reality that exposes our mortality and suddenly all of those things that we wanted to do and should have done, flash before us. Images of our family and loved ones etch them selves into our brain and we may be overcome with grief in the knowledge that such an awful event has come to pass.

Partial Acceptance & Anger

At some point, an acceptance comes upon us. Our doctor has provided us with an answer as to why we have felt so ill these past months. Sometimes we are able to know immediately, the cause of our cancer, sometimes not. Often we are able to go back those few years and contemplate on the underlying event that caused the disharmony in our life and so pin point (rightly or wrongly) what we perceive to be an answer as to why this has come about. We get some kind of closure on the reasons and such closure allows us to then, accept where we are. With the acceptance comes anger. “Why me?” All around us we see others who surely live in a poorer lifestyle, taking little care of them selves and less care of others. We have always eaten well (almost always) and yet these other people never cook! They eat from paper bags, anything that can be pre-prepared or cooked by someone else and yet here we are, I’m the one with cancer and they’re over there, Scott free. Life isn’t fair! It’s not right! And yet we are power-less to do anything about it, because we have now seen three doctors and they have all agreed. I have cancer – and now I’m angry about that, because it simply isn’t fair!

Acceptance & Recognition.

So here we are, certainly feeling ill and suddenly we find ourselves following a course of chemo-therapy, prescribed by our new acquaintance, the oncologist. There has been some talk of surgery and for others there has already been surgery. Swept into the theatre almost before we knew it. Frightened and fearful at what our new life will bring. What will be the outcome? How will I live now? Is this what my life has come to? Slowly we recognize that we have this illness, no matter how much we denied it in those first few days, it is still here. Like some entity within us and we beseech the surgeon to cut it away and make us whole again. We have cancer and now we are in the hands of the doctors and surgeons and fear lives as a constant companion.

Generation of a Solution

For many, regular trips to the oncology ward, becomes routine. Nurses and staff in drab gowns and face-masks, insert drips and administer solutions that they dare not touch. At these times we feel awful and nausea and vomiting are no longer only the feelings after a big night out. At times we feel like the illness is forcing us to succumb and once or twice, we have faced the reality of death. For those of us who are religious, we turn to God for comfort and attempt to find reassurance in the solace of His company.

Some of us seek other ways to find comfort and reassurance. Some find support groups of like-minded people and it is here, among our new like-minded friends, that other options are offered and discovered. We talk to people who have not experienced chemo-therapy for many years now, who meditate regularly and even those who have returned to work and lead, what many may see as “normal” lives – normal, that is, except for these regular support meetings and daily routines of meditation and mindfulness.

Gradually, almost miraculously, we catch a glimmer of hope and just as slowly, we begin to form a plan. Simple at first, perhaps only a determination to attend a support group, perhaps a decision to investigate meditation and relaxation, maybe, reluctantly, we agree to look at our diet. We read about all the cures that seem to abound in this other world and hopefully, we come to realize that all “cures” are not.

Development of New Behaviors

Now we have a plan. Sometimes the fear of our prognosis haunts us, but with new-found skills, we manage to keep those fears under control. We accept life now, for the gift that it is and suddenly colors are more vibrant, friendships are more valued and simply being alive is a joy. Why wasn’t life always like this? We see the angers in others who are stuck in their stage of healing and sometimes never leave that emotional place because it allows them a kind of power. The power to have a view that many will agree with and so the view is reinforced. Surely, living one’s life in anger is a sad existence when the option of joy is so easily available.

Chemotherapy and radiation treatment often times leave cancer patients with side-effects that severely impact various aspects of their quality of life. In this post, we’ll touch upon some of the dietary, physical and social options available to battle the side-effects induced by chemotherapy or radiation therapy treatment.

Dietary Side Effects

Loss in appetite is a common side-effect experienced by patients who undergo chemotherapy. This loss in appetite results in a decreased protein and nutrient intake making the patient’s road to recovery more difficult. According to the National Cancer Institute, cancer patients complain that certain foods like meat may be bitter or taste metallic. A patient’s sense of smell may also be affected due to chemo treatment attacking healthy cells as well as diseased cells. Usually, these changes in sense of taste or smell will return to normal once treatment ends.

With the body already in a weakened state, caregivers will need to make sure patients not only eat their meals but also eat the “right” types of foods. A few recommended ways to combat the change in sense of taste or smell by the National Cancer Institute are the following:

Choose foods that look and smell good
Marinate foods with fruit juices, wine, salad dressing and other spices
Try tart foods and drinks
Make foods sweeter
Eat with plastic utensils rather than metal ones
Discuss meal and options with a dietician
To battle appetite loss, other suggested methods include:

Eat smaller meals, but more frequently
Drink liquids throughout the day
Drink a liquid or powdered replacement
Have easy-to-carry snacks readily available
Eating and getting the necessary amount of nutrition is extremely important for patients during the recovery and healing process.

Physical Side Effects

As part of chemo and radiation treatment therapy, most patients experience side-effects which affect their physical appearance, leaving them feeling depressed. Common physical side-effects include discolored or burnt skin, loss of eyebrows, hair follicles and acne. Fortunately, organizations like Look Good…Feel Better, a 501c3 non-profit organization, aim to help women cope with these terrible side effects. They understand that self-image and physical appearance have a direct impact on the patient’s self-esteem and in turns hinders the recovery process. The organization offers over 14,500 group workshops nationwide in more than 3,000 locations where beauty professional volunteers teach women beauty techniques to help them manage the appearance-related side effects.

Other institutions like DNI International offer reconstructive cosmetic products and services available to cancer patients at select institutions. David Nicholas and David Miranowicz, co-presidents of DNI International, empathize with patients on how a decreased physical appearance is directly linked to a lower quality of life. “Chemotherapy can yellow the skin; they often lose their eyebrows and eyelashes, and radiation burns the skin. But with some education, we can empower them to soften the effects of those treatments, and they can feel more like themselves again…which makes them feel better.” DNI’s user-friendly reconstructive cosmetic makeup products are available to cancer patients in the Rowley, MA and Massachusetts General Hospital-Oncology Unit.

Social and Emotional Side Effects

Newly diagnosed cancer patients and families may also experience role changes. Cancer patients, who were originally extremely independent pre-cancer, will now inevitably become more dependent on their family and loved ones. Patients are also likely to experience feelings of anxiety, depression, frustration, and hopelessness. Cancer survivors like Bill Gasperson stress the importance of joining support groups and that the larger the patient’s support group is the better. Support groups offer several benefits, some which include:

Learning tips and resources through sharing among peers
Connecting with cancer survivors and coaches for strength and encouragement
Finding inspiration through patient empowerment
Identifying the right questions across various stages in the disease
Companionship – rediscovering the ability to laugh despite the disease
A strong social support network most importantly provides the patient with the emotional support to help battle the hurdles of this terrible disease. Cancer survivors have stressed that perhaps the most important emotional support is needed when they experienced disease recurrence.

We hope this post was helpful and would love to hear some of your own lessons learned.

Pulse of the Patient is an online cancer support community that is driven entirely by patients rather than by physicians, with a primary goal to improve cancer patients’ quality of life and care through knowledge-sharing based on the principle of “If I Knew Then, What I Know Now…”.

It can be enlightening, yet disturbing, to know more about the cancer industry; and how the system really works. This is based on documented statistics from medical journals that are seldom viewed by the public, interviews with highly qualified Medical Specialists, Nature Cure experts, and thousands of cancer patients.

Most of the patients out there are searching for answers like you. They have spent thousands of dollars on chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery and still no results! In fact, they feel worse than ever— they are dying!

Apart from the horrendous side effects, even the top cancer specialists will warn you that even radiation and chemotherapy will probably cause cancer to re-occur in a few years. Keep in mind that although doctors have your best interests at heart; 80% oncologists will never go for chemotherapy for themselves or their loved ones since they know it is poison and one of the most lethal chemical one can use.

The FDA stipulates that only conventional drugs or medical treatment can be used to cure cancer. This way, a genuine cure for cancer can never be discovered because there is so much money to be made in conventional cancer methods. Even medical schools and faculties are highly influenced and patronized by the pharmaceutical companies.

Students specializing in cancer in medical schools, are never exposed to successful, non-toxic, cancer treatments since it provides competition to everything they represent. Oncology students go into medicine to help patients — How can they see them die?

Not withstanding the billions of dollars spent on conventional cancer research, we are fast losing the war against cancer. This is disheartening since this year too, one in two men and one woman in three, in the United States, will be diagnosed with some sort of cancer.

For those of you who are confused, frustrated, worried, or just plain scared, be assured, that there are safe, clinically proven nature cure methods that can get you immediate results! Natural ways to cure cancer are popular because they enable the body to cure itself of cancer. It can be carried out at home; works with even advanced cancer and is one hundred percent natural cure.

The problem is that neither the general public or conventional doctors want to hear about them when thousands of doctors in Europe and elsewhere, have been using it to heal a large number of patients for nearly a 100 years.

You only need to take a few simple steps. And when you know what these are, you can use natural cures so you can boost your immune system with foods that are best for your specific type of cancer. Research from around the world has defined categories of food that will show you how to reverse your cancer in just 6-8 weeks. Remember, this cure is effective only when you put the right food plan in place—no wasting money on supplements that are not known to work.

Just like everything else in nature, curing cancer has everything to do with creating a healthy balance among oncogenes (that cause cells to divide) and suppressor genes (that stop the divide). The foods do it for you.

Now that you know that behind the scenes, millions of people around the world have successfully treated cancer for decades using low cost, natural, alternative cancer treatments alone, why is alternate medicine remain ignored by the conventional medical system? Hopefully, the Internet information explosion will finally force the powerful drug industry to change its course.

This article is not intended to slight the sincere efforts put in by thousands of researchers who toil away in an effort to find the right cure but to enlighten the suffering millions, that there are many other time-tested ways to cure cancer. And with that, there is Hope.

Cancer is one of the most common fatal diseases known to man, and living with cancer can be really stressful. Cancer sufferers have to go through bouts of chemotherapy or other types of treatment to remove their cancer. Cancer treatments usually result in side effects such as fatigue, deficiency of immune system, and hair loss. All these can increase the stress level of cancer sufferers as well as survivors, which in turn will slow down their recovery process.

There are ways to counter the adverse effects of cancer treatment, and one of them is by practicing Laughter Yoga. Laughter Yoga is a technique developed by Dr. Madan Kataria, a medical doctor from Mumbai, India. This unique exercise technique combines laughter exercises, created and developed by Dr. Kataria himself, and the ancient art of yogic breathing.

It is said that laughter is the best medicine, and it is not just some nonsense. Studies and researches indicate that laughter helps boost our immune system, therefore maintaining our health and well being. Dr. Kataria claims that laughter helps our lungs take in more O2 and expel more CO2 as well as other impurities than when we breathe normally. This leads to a better distribution of O2 in our blood system thus improving our blood circulation. Laughter also increases the production of endorphins – hormones that make us feel good or happy – in our body.

So how does this kind of Yoga benefit cancer sufferers? Regular Laughter Yoga can help boost their immune system of cancer sufferers and survivors and also decrease their stress level. The combination of Laughter Yoga and conventional cancer treatment can help fight cancer more efficiently. Laughter Yoga can also help cancer survivors regain their energy and improve their recovery process.

Laughter Yoga can also help cancer prevention for non-cancer sufferers. Cancer is caused by – among many contributing factors – lack of exercise and stress. Conventional exercise routines can take up some time and nowadays people are too busy and just don’t have much spare time. Dr. Kataria claims that 15 minutes of laughter exercises is equivalent to 30 minutes of cardio exercise. So why waste 30 minutes in the gym when you can laugh as much as you like for 15 minutes inside the comforts of your own house? Regular laughter exercises can help ward off stress hence preventing the cancer from occurring. Most importantly, Laughter Yoga is free of charge! You don’t have to invest in any sporting equipments, and you don’t have to pay a membership fee.

So what are you waiting for? Get to know Laughter Yoga now!

Emotions play a very important and tangible role in your healing process. In this article I am going to outline strategies and concrete ideas to help you make a shift toward bringing more healing, loving and energizing emotions into your healing journey.

Letting Go

Emotional stress can also disrupt hormonal balance in the body which can result in the increased production of abnormal cells. Feeling trapped and helpless are detrimental negative emotions so let’s look at a few situations where you may be feeling stuck and how you can let go and free yourself.

Your Treatment Plan:

The most important thing to feel positive about is your recommended treatment plan. If you feel stuck with a doctor you don’t feel is taking your needs into consideration or who is proposing a plan that you are not comfortable with and he or she is not willing to discuss other options then it is time to get a second opinion. Remember, at the end of the day it is you that has to have the last word and feel confident about your healing process. Recent studies have confirmed the enormous impact the placebo effect has on the outcome of treatments. Believing that your treatments are going to help you is therefore essential part of the healing process.

If you feel stuck with your plan, write out a list of different options. Options like finding another doctor, supplementing your plan with complementary healing tools, delaying your treatment to give you time to look into and research your plan, as well as other treatment options. Once you have a list of options (even if some of them don’t feel feasible – write them down). Then you can review the list, turn inward and make a heartfelt choice. Only then can you move forward, feeling more confident, involved and empowered on your own healing journey.

Close Relationships:

During your healing journey you want to make sure that you are surrounded by positive energy, love and support. Anything and anyone in your daily life that does not meet these criteria should be asked to support you in a loving way or to step back and give you the room you need to create a positive healing environment. This is your time to stand up and speak your truth, from the heart, and really ask for what you need. This is often difficult, especially for women who are used to being helpful and accommodating, but it is essential to optimizing your immune function. Everyone wants to help but sometimes they don’t know how or they reach out in a way that is not nourishing for you. Loving yourself and creating internal harmony comes first right now and as hard as it may be to express your needs, people will understand and respect your wishes.

Feeling Passionate, Inspired and Loved

Pursuing a Passion:

Doing anything that you are passionate about gives you energy and shifts your emotions in a positive direction. It could be as simple as taking time to read a book that you love, take a walk in nature or it could be helping someone in a way that feels meaningful for you – like participating in a forum and sharing your experiences.

Many cancer thrivers’ (people in remission who feel better off for having lived their cancer journey) stories have a common theme – passion. On their healing journey thrivers often discover something that they were passionate about and that they wanted to share with the rest of the world. Maybe it is a healing tool or product or process – something that helped and touched them deeply on their path to health. So be on the lookout for the people, tools or products that are or could have a dramatic impact on you and your healing. Be open to ways of potentially sharing this passion with the world.

A cancer thriver and good friend of mine has made it her life’s mission to promote the benefits of yoga and meditation to cancer patients and to the medical community. She is now doing her doctoral thesis to prove the effects of yoga and meditation for breast cancer patients during treatment. Her life has become energized with the passion of sharing the tools that helped her through some difficult times on her journey.

Heartfelt Inspiration:

Feeling inspired is another great way to energize your immune system. Read a book or some stories online about someone that inspires you. Watch a movie about someone you admire, buy some CDs by spiritual leaders or healers like Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer or Deepak Chopra. This type of support can help you feel motivated, empowered and it may also give you guidance in terms of healing and wellness. Another great way to feel inspired is to read quotes or poems or blogs by people you respect and admire.

Feeling Loved:

Remember the energizing effect of falling in love for the first time? What if you could fall in love with yourself? What better time to be your own best friend, to support, embrace and love yourself completely and unconditionally. You are the only one that can be there at all times to give yourself unconditional love throughout your recovery.

Loving yourself means that you do all you can to take care of yourself. This may mean getting a massage, listening to your favorite music, taking a relaxing bath – whatever feels nourishing for you. It also includes eating foods that nourish you and making sure you are well hydrated. It means developing a habit of listening to and responding to the messages your body is constantly sending you. Like giving yourself permission to get extra rest when you are tired, or taking the day off of household duties when you feel stressed or overwhelmed.

Asking for what you need from others and learning to accept help is also part of loving yourself. Often people really want to help but they don’t know what to do. Sometimes they will do things that actually interfere with you getting rest or caring for yourself. So try to think of what would be truly helpful and then ask for it. Like asking someone to look after your children for the day or to make you a meal or to take your dog for a walk. You may be surprised to see how good people feel about being able to help you in a meaningful way. You may also find that asking for help serves others’ needs as well.

Loving yourself is not only about taking care of yourself but it is also acknowledging and appreciating who you are at a fundamental level – a loving and caring human being. You don’t have to love or embrace all your bad habits – those aren’t who you are. They are simply learned behavior patterns. Try not to focus on the habits that you don’t like, instead shift your attention to nurturing yourself and being grateful for your good qualities.

One thing you can do is to ask yourself ‘how can I nurture myself everyday?’. Pick one thing per day that you do just for you. Think of your favorite activities, having quiet cup of tea, reading a book you love, going to a yoga class, complimenting yourself, giving yourself encouragement. Start a list and write down at least one thing you do to love yourself everyday. Remember, loving yourself is one of the best ways that you can positively influence your healing journey.

Laughter and Joy:

Often when we are sick and feeling tired or discouraged it is easy to feel down or depressed so it is important to consciously bring more laughter and joy into your life everyday. These emotions have a positive, healing impact on the body and help you to feel better about yourself and your future. Rent a funny movie, subscribe to a service where they send you a funny video everyday, be with people who make your laugh, or ask your friends and family members to bring jokes when they come and visit. Have fun going through the exercise of determining what makes you laugh and bringing more of it into your life.

In conclusion, your attitude and emotions do affect your healing journey. Being aware and consciously working towards bringing more joy, laughter and love into your life during this period, and always, is not only good in terms of empowering and healing but it is also uplifting!

When you are going through cancer treatment, your diet needs to be both nutritious and balanced. You can use cancer treatment program guide to learn how to control vomiting and nausea when you are going through radiation and chemotherapy. There are some simple tips that you can use to change your eating habits and diet including taking Beta Glucan to ensure you remain healthy. Your doctor or dietitian can help you to come up with an effective eating plan.

Small Meals

When it comes to eating, one of the things that you get from the cancer treatment program guide is the fact that small meals are more appropriate when you are going through treatment. Eat several times a day to make sure you get the nutrients your body requires to heal after the treatment. When eating, make sure you do it slowly. Chew carefully to make it easy for your body to digest the foods. Foods that are sweet or salty are a great option during cancer treatment because they get help to get rid of the nauseous feeling. You can also eat some crackers and dry toast with some homemade soups when you are feeling nauseous.

Fluids

Fluids are also important and cancer treatment program guide can help to determine the appropriate number of water that you should take. A lot of fluids are necessary especially after you have gone through a treatment session. This will help to get rid of all the toxins that have accumulated in your body. Clear fluids should be taken all day. Avoid taking fluids when you are having your meals because this can increase nausea and bloating.

What to Avoid

Spicy foods are not suitable if you are going through treatment. You should also avoid foods that are greasy because this can make you feel more nauseous. Solid foods should also be avoided immediately after a treatment session because you are more prone to vomiting at this time. When cooking, you should also stay away from ingredients that have very powerful odors because this can increase your nausea. You can take some Beta Glucan at this point because you are not able to eat solids. Taking too much alcohol and coffee is also inappropriate.

Dealing with Vomiting

When you vomit after eating a meal or taking some Beta Glucan, you should try to sip some fluids or suck ice chips until you are able to take solids. When the vomiting is severe, broths, flat sodas and sports drinks are appropriate because they help to replace the electrolytes you have lost.

Follow Meal Plan

It is important to stick to your meal plan once you have determined the most appropriate foods to eat during the treatment period. Make sure you eat even when you do not feel hungry to ensure you are well nourished. A well nourished individual is able to handle the various side effects of surgery and chemotherapy better. This means that you have to plan your meals ahead of time to make sure there is always some food in the house.

You can use Bill Henderson cancer to come up with a suitable meal plan. Use the provided link to know more about Beta Glucan.

Clinical trials represent leading-edge medical science. However, less than 5% of adults diagnosed with cancer each year are enrolled in them. While there are a number of various treatment approaches being offered, 8/10 patients are aware that this is a viable option for them. If they are offering treatment options above and beyond the standard treatment, why are patients not utilizing this valuable resource?

Results from surveys and focus groups concluded that the vast majority of patients are unaware of clinical trials and doctors are not enrolling patients due to a lack of time, staffing, funding, and resources. Indeed, enrolling a patient in a trial requires a significant amount of time and resources for physicians. Furthermore, there are some serious misconceptions held by some physicians and patients.

Molecular targeted clinical trials need to be viewed separately from other trials.

Since targeted trials are based on well-established molecular mechanisms, they do not require large-scale studies to produce relevant statistical data. This is an important distinction as the techniques used to identify the more general chemotherapy drugs currently being used, were based on applying the same drug to many patients with a particular form of cancer, and did not consider the genetic variation amongst the patients, their cancers, or diet. In the case of these generalized and less stratified trials, large numbers of patients were needed to produce relevant statistical data.

A common myth is that a patient may receive a placebo (control group) instead of the treatment being tested (single or double blind studies). However, clinical trials for cancer do not typically use this approach. There are two considerations regarding this point. Firstly, if a placebo or control group is used in a trial, it is almost always the standard treatment for that cancer that the patient would have otherwise used.

Secondly, most targeted clinical trials are open label and the patient has the choice of what role they perform. Furthermore, if the tested drug starts to show significant benefits, the control group is given the option to switch to the drug as it would be highly unethical to deny a patient with a specific genetic marker, effective treatment.

The use of molecular signatures in identifying optimal therapies has problems and benefits.

(1) Molecular targeted clinical trials require expensive and complex genetic profiling.

(2) Molecular targeted clinical trials provide a tool to address the heterogeneous nature of cancer and have far less side effects than general chemotherapy/RT.

While the numerous variations of therapeutic approaches combined with the complexity of navigating the copious clinical trials databases has proved a daunting task, this effort can be greatly mitigated by having a statistically determined molecular outline that allows the user to focus on finding trials based on pre-defined molecular variables (markers). Not only does this approach reduce the time and effort required, it allows for personalized treatments (better results with less side effects), reduces the patient burden for the doctor and medical system, and provides scientific data. Furthermore, even if the patient is not accepted in the trial, they are provided with important molecular data that can greatly improve further treatment efforts.

And finally, using multiple targeted clinical trials allows the patient to greatly reduce the overall genetic variation of their cancer, one trial at a time.

CTOAM is a personalized cancer research company that specializes in using the most current peer reviewed scientific research on cancer diagnostics, treatments, nutraceuticals, and clinical trials to educate patients on the treatments and diets that provide the best statistical chances for success.

Traditional health care addresses only the effects of disease. There is a huge difference between these two approaches to health and wellness.

The major emphasis for the cancer herbal treatment is to discover the cause of disease in your body.

What are 8 causes of disease?

1 Deficiencies: Did you know the American Cancer Society has estimated that about one-third of cancer deaths every year, in the United States, are linked to diets deficient in vitamins and minerals?

2 Immune Dysfunction: When the immune system does not work effectively inflammation spreads. Inflammation is a root cause of cancer and all chronic diseases.

3 Injuries: If injuries are not treated properly, they can develop into diseases affecting bones and muscles.

4 Contagions: Exposure to drug resistant pathogens can leave you open to chronic disease such as cancer and other chronic diseases.

5 Genetics and Age: Genes that control disease can be weakened as you age especially if your lifestyle includes a poor diet and no exercise.

6 Toxins and Free Radicals: Nearly 85% of debilitating diseases are associated with toxic substances.

7 Abnormal Metabolism: An abnormal metabolism function affects hormone levels, digestion, blood sugar, energy, blood pressure, premature aging and much more.

8 Stress: Chronic stress has been linked to increased risk of cancer, poor immunity, heart disease, weight gain, mental decline, and many more diseases.

How does the cancer herbal treatment help?

The cancer herbal treatment is a treatment program designed to promote a high level of wellness and vitality.

It encompasses healing herbs along with a healthy diet, exercises and strategies for reducing stress and promoting emotional well-being.

“Working with cancer or any chronic disease, is not as simple as swallowing some herbs or supplements,” says Lorene Benoit (author of The Paw Paw Program book p.170) Benoit teaches that four pillars of health are necessary to support all aspects of a healthy, balanced body.

The four pillars are:

1 Diet

2 Exercise
