Is it so important to get a second opinion when you have been diagnosed with cancer? The answer is yes and there are several reasons. Some of the doctors do not encourage their patients to seek second opinions. These doctors may be afraid of losing revenue or threatened by having their patients believe some other doctors are more knowledgeable, or they just may not border consulting with other physicians. Although you trust your physicians, the intent of a cancer diagnosis demands that you feel 100% confident with the diagnosis and your treatment plan before proceeding any further. Obviously, a second opinion that concurs with the fist can give you up most confidence.
Having said so, although conformation is conforming, a second opinion can also add to or conflict with information you may have already received.
