One of the most dangerous diseases in this planet is cancer. Throughout the years, it has killed millions of people all over the world, making it a global epidemic. Most people are afraid to suffer and spend the rest of their lives living with this illness. However, using modern medications, cancer is preventable and even treatable. Nowadays, the scientists across the world are working very hard to invent medications that can cure this terrible disease.

One of the most common types of cancer is thyroid cancer. This disease is more common in women than in men. The exact cause of this type of cancer is still unknown. However, scientists suspect that possible causes include a family history of goiter, exposure to high levels of radiation, and certain hereditary syndromes.

So how you do know if you or your family members are suffering from thyroid cancer? The most visible symptom is a lump or a nodule in the thyroid region of the neck. Some other symptoms include difficulty in swallowing, throat or neck pain, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, excessive cough and vocal changes. If you or your family members notice some of these symptoms, you should take immediate actions before things get worse.

You do not have to panic when you have these symptoms. Panicking only makes matters worse. The first thing you have to do is go to a cancer specialist and request for an immediate treatment. The thing you need to remember is that this illness can be treated.

When you are diagnosed with a thyroid cancer, your doctor will need some information regarding the stage or extent of your disease. Usually, you have to go through a series of tests to determine this. The extent of the disease can be investigated using diagnostic imaging techniques such as ultrasonography (USG), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT).

Your doctor will prescribe the best treatment for you according to your test results. Possible treatments include chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery. Do not forget to take your medication and always follow your doctor’s orders. Do not skip your therapy sessions. These are the keys to a speedy recovery. Cancer treatments are done by specialists who are experts on this medical field such as surgeons, endocrinologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists.

Cancer has become something we are afraid of. But thanks to modern technology and medical advancement, we can treat cancer.

Cysts on the ovaries are closed baglike bulks which forms within the ovaries. An ovarian cyst evolves during menstrual cycles. The majority of growths are part of the monthly period process — which is known as functional growths. They happen during ovulation and they also vanish after a period of time.

Simple cysts consist of fluid or solid materials when the egg cell isn’t launched during ovulation. Growths may cause blood loss and discomfort but could end up being handled via surgical treatment. During ovulation, endocrine is released within the ovary, follicles and little bags where eggs are created.

Whenever eggs are finally shaped the follicles are damaged to release the eggs. The little bags that don’t have eggs are known as corpus luteum but when these follicles or bags aren’t damaged, they form as ovarian growths. You will find different types of ovarian growths below.

Follicular cysts — this is shaped when follicles or bulk that contain egg cells develop and don’t break to release the egg cell.

Corpus Luteum cysts — this is shaped during the menstrual period. When the egg cell isn’t fertilized, this particular cyst vanishes after a while.

Dermoid cysts — this is related to tissue such as the skin, hair and tooth. This also happens in the ovary’s germ tissue, and they are obvious during adulthood.

Signs and symptoms for ovarian cysts may go undetectable till they’re discovered during health-related evaluation. During giving birth, injury or intercourse, they might split and could show symptoms for example:

Intense discomfort in the belly

Excessive blood loss internally

Agonizing intercourse

Weight gain

Inability to conceive a child

Heavy monthly flow

Agonizing bowel movement

Alterations in the monthly period cycle

Proper diagnosis of ovarian cysts consists of bodily evaluation, lab exams and knowledge about the health background of the affected person. Lab exams consist of CBC and pregnancy check. Diagnostic test may also be given such as ultrasound examination, laparoscopy, and x-ray.

With respect to the kind, dimension and placement of growths, treatment for ovarian cysts also consider the age of the individual. For a “functional cyst”, a doctor might suggest waiting and seeing if the growths might vanish during a period of time since they usually will.

For polycystic kind, prescriptions can vary appropriately. For cyst adenomas, endometrial, and dermoid cysts, treatment methods are generally completed with surgical treatment. Laparoscopy is going to be carried out on the cysts

If you are experiencing some of the symptoms listed above, it’s important that you take the time to see if you have an ovarian cyst. It’s very important not to put this off.

Cancer is one of the deadliest sicknesses everyone fears. Not only will the person experience a painful death but also a tragic ending to all your savings. That is why it is very important to have knowledge about the different signs and symptoms of certain cancers so that at an early stage you can still be able to overcome it and no longer have to go through painful medications and treatments. I have listed below some of the common signs and symptoms to help curious people like you.

1. Fever – This is on of the common signs but mostly occurs after the cancer has spread from its origin. The majority of cancer patients will experience fever at some point of time and makes it more difficult for the immune system to fight the infection. Fever is one of the early signs of certain cancers like blood cancer.

2. Strange weight loss – Those who have cancer will experience a sudden loss in weight for no reason. This is called “unexplained weight loss”. This is usually the first sign of cancer and mostly happens with cancers of the lung, stomach or pancreas.

3. Permanent Sores – This is visible to certain cancers like skin cancer wherein your sores keep on bleeding. This should be treated immediately, especially with smokers and drinkers.

4. Abnormal Discharge – Unusual bleeding on certain parts of the body may also be signs of early cancer. This may affect the different parts of the body like blood in the phlegm that constitutes to lung cancer or blood in the stool that may be a symptom of colon cancer.

5. Thickening of Certain Body Parts – Majority of cancers can be seen through the skin. The thickening of the skin commonly happens in the breasts, lymph nodes, testicles and body tissues.

6. Swallowing Difficulties – This is where the person undergoes troubles in swallowing and digesting the food that they eat. This may possibly lead to cancer of esophagus.

It is very hard to battle against cancer because it does not only affect your body but also your mind and emotions. That’s why presence of mind is indeed needed to be able to surpass this sickness. There are also a lot of precautionary methods you can do to avoid having cancer like having a regular check up with your doctor so that you can monitor your health. Another best thing to do is to have insurance. There are many of health insurance companies in the neighbourhood today who are willing to offer and help us get the best benefits that we will need in order to have a more economical way of treating our medications and health benefits.

Kefir is the name of a drink that is made by fermenting milk with kefir grains. By consuming kefir in daily diet can increase your immune system, something essential during cancer treatment. The present findings suggest that kefir extracts contain constituents that specifically inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells, which might eventually be useful in the prevention or treatment of breast cancer. Kefir extracts suppress in vitro proliferation of estrogen-dependent human breast cancer cells but not normal mammary epithelial cell. Kefir also can reduce the risk of certain cancers, including colon cancer, preventing the growth of cancer cells.
Anti-tumorigenic effects have been demonstrated in animal studies from the intake of kefir, a traditional fermented milk product believed to originate from the Caucasian mountains of Russia. In the present study, the antiproliferative effects of extracts of kefir, yogurt, and pasteurized cow’s milk on human mammary cancer cells (MCF-7) and normal human mammary epithelial cells (HMECs) was investigated at doses of 0.31%, 0.63%, 1.25%, 2.5%, 5%, and 10% (vol/vol). After 6 days of culture, extracts of kefir-fermented milk depressed MCF-7 cell growth in a dose-dependent manner, showing 29% inhibition of proliferation at a concentration as low as 0.63%, whereas yogurt extracts began to show dose-dependent antiproliferative effects only at the 2.5% dose. Moreover, at the 2.5% dose, kefir extracts decreased the MCF-7 cell numbers by 56%, while yogurt extracts decreased MCF-7 cell proliferation by only 14%. No antiproliferative effects of kefir extracts were observed in the HMECs, while the yogurt extracts exerted antiproliferative effects on HMECs at the 5% and 10% doses. Unfermented (pasteurized) milk extracts stimulated proliferation of MCF-7 cells and HMECs at concentrations above 0.31%. Peptide content and capillary electrophoresis analyses showed that kefir-mediated milk fermentation led to an increase in peptide concentrations and a change in peptide profiles relative to milk or yogurt.
The effects of oral administration of milk and soy milk kefirs on tumor growth in tumor-bearing mice and the mucosal immunoglobulin A response in mice were studied. Oral administration of milk and soy milk kefirs to mice inoculated with sarcoma 180 tumor cells resulted in 64.8% and 70.9% inhibition of tumor growth, respectively, compared with controls.
The daily intraperitoneal administration of 0.50 mL kefir for 20 days to mice; containing transplanted fusiform cell sarcomas resulted in a significant decrease in tumour size. Kefir-induced disappearance of tumoural necrosis was also evident. With respect to the antibacterial activity of kefir, the greatest activity was exhibited against gram-positive coccus, staphylococcus, and gram-positive bacillus.
The probiotic strains of E. faecium RM11 and L. fermentum RM28 also triggered antiproliferation of colon cancer cells at the rates of 21-29%, and 22-29%, respectively. This suggested that both strains could be used as potential probiotics in functional food or for colon cancer biological products.

This cancer originates in immature nerve cells and is the most common cancer among children and infants with an estimated 650 new cases annually in the United States only. This is a neuroendocrine tumor that arises from neural crest element of the SNS (sympathetic nervous system). Most often it occurs in one of the adrenal glands but can also develop in the nerve tissues of neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis.

Symptoms of neuroblastoma

This cancer has vague symptoms in its initial stage that makes the diagnosing task really difficult. At later stages it has these signs:

Loss of appetite
Joint pain
Fatigue, weakness
Swollen tummy and constipation due to the presence of a tumor, if it affects abdominal region
Breathing problems due to tumor in chest nerves
Tumor in bone around the eyes can cause noticeable swelling and bruising
Pallor from anemia can be caused due to infiltration of the bone
Inability to walk, stand or crawl because of the presence of tumor on spinal cord
Pain in legs and hips or limping due to bone lesions in that area

Rare symptoms are:

Ataxia ( in 1.3 percent of the cases)
Opsoclonus myoclonus syndrome (1.3 percent of cases)
Treatment-resistant diarrhea (4 percent)
Homer’s syndrome (2.4 percent)
Hypertension(1.3 percent of the cases)
Transverse myelopathy (tumor spinal cord compression) that occurs in 5 percent of the total neuroblastoma cases.

What are the causes of neuroblastoma?

It is really important to be well-informed about the major causes of this cancer of the nervous system. It is not clearly understood why it affects a person. It can be caused due to various factors such as:

Genetic history
Exposure to chemicals in some industries
Excessive alcohol intake
Smoking
Drug and some medications taken by the mother during pregnancy
Infection
Hormones
Fertility drugs
Hair dyes
Atopy

How is neuroblastomy diagnosed?

Several techniques are used to detect this cancer. These are:

Imaging
Biochemistry
Screening
Imaging

Neuroblastoma is diagnosed with the mIBG scan (meta-idobenzylguanidine) that is carried out in 90 to 95 percent of all neuroblastoma patients. mIBG is done on sympathetic neurons which reveals the presence of tumor there.

Biochemistry

There is an increased level of catecholamine or their metabolites in the blood or the urine in 90 percent of the patients affected by neuroblastomy. So it is a strong indication of the presence of this cancer. Dopamine, VMA (vanillylmandelic acid) and HVA (homovanillic acid) are included in catecholamine and their metabolites.

Screening

Healthy infants with no symptoms of neuroblastomy are given a screening test at three weeks, six months and one year in many developed and health conscious countries since 1980. But recently it was not practiced in some parts of the world due to zero reduction in the deaths caused by neuroblastoma. Among the infants, it made diagnosis that would have gone without treatment of any sort. But the children were operated on with surgery or chemotherapy unnecessarily.

How to treat neuroblastomy?

At beginning, when the tumor is not widely spread, this cancer is quire curable with long-term positive results and a high survival rate. These are the options to treat this disease:

Chemotherapy
Radiation therapy
Differentiation agent isotretinoin (also known as 13- cis-retinoic acid)
Stem cell transplant
Immunotherapy
Anti-GD2 monoclonal antibody therapy

The combination of all these is termed as multi model therapy. The cancer treatment depends upon the age of the child, the severity level of the cancer, genetic factors and microscopic appearance.

Now when we talk about the testicular cancer or any other cancer of the reproductive organs then a sad fact is that, there are very less chances of early detection of cancer in these organs. It feels miserable to me that in most of the cases testicular cancer can’t be detected in early curable stage and when people realize that every thing is not alright and go for examination, normally it is too late. This is quite understandable because of the psychosexual and emotional sensitivity of the region.

I have found an interesting fact that either people don’t feel confident to get that part of body examined or the physician himself doesn’t find it necessary to have a look at such areas. Yet another reason why cancer problems in men are detected very late is the denying property of men to acknowledge a disease or disability in body. They just try to pretend like a “man” and say everything is okay but it is not all the time.

If you will take my suggestion then it is better to get yourself examined before it is too late. There is nothing that you should be afraid of or feel embrace because it is about life and death. We all know that cancer is curable but only in one case if detected in early stages. There is an advice for you that will be helpful for you and everyone as well to determine if there is some serious problem going with their organs or not. Try to observer your organs regularly and become familiar with them because this is the only way to visualize a change in your reproductive organs.

Testicular cancer has such symptoms that are difficult to detect but again I will repeat the same thing that you will have to get yourself familiar to your organs. Some of the symptoms of testicular cancer that can be observed by you are pain in lower back, swelling or unusual pain in testicles, some more growth may be observed around that area. The severe symptoms are pain and feeling of discomfort during sexual erection, bleeding while passing urine with pain and even if you find blood in ejaculate then you may be really suffering from testicular cancer.

You should consult with a doctor as soon as possible in such situation so that treatment can be started. The treatments that are usually done in testicular cancer are non-invasive that also involve radiological treatment as well.

There are many dietary supplements such as regenerect that can help with testicular cancers and diseases. Learn how to overcome all kinds of health ailments with natural products.

The symptoms of brain tumor vary from patient to patient, and most of these symptoms can also be found in people without brain tumors. So the only way to know if you really have a brain tumor or not is to consult your doctor and get a brain scan.

Headache is the symptom that is common with 46% of patients with tumors. They described this headache in a different way and no reason is a sure sign of a brain tumor for many. Perhaps most people have headaches at some point in their lives, so it is not sure sign of brain tumors. You should talk to your doctor if your headaches are different than you’ve ever had, with nausea / vomiting, aggravated by bending or effort to go to the bathroom.

Seizures: This was the second most common symptom reported, with 33% of patients reporting a seizure before the diagnosis was made. Seizures can be caused by other things, such high fever, as epilepsy, stroke, trauma and other disorders. This is a symptom that should never be ignored, whatever the cause. In a person who has never had a seizure before, it usually indicates something serious and you should get a brain scan.

A crisis is a sudden and involuntary change in behavior, muscle control, consciousness, and / or sensation. Symptoms can vary from attack and sudden loss of consciousness total agitation of the violent shaking or slight shaking of a limb. A person can experience blurred vision, slurred speech or staring into space and doing other odd behaviors, while having a seizure. About 10% of United States population will experience a single seizure in their lives.

Nausea and Vomiting: As with headaches, these are non-specific – meaning that most people who have nausea and vomiting do not have a brain tumor. Twenty-two percent of our respondents said nausea / vomiting as a symptom.

Nausea and / or vomiting are more likely to look for a brain tumor which is accompanied by other symptoms mentioned here.

Vision problems or hearing: Twenty-five percent reported vision problems first. It is not easy if you have a problem with your hearing or sight, to be extracted. I have often heard that the eye doctor is the first to make diagnoses. When you look in your eyes, sometimes you can see the signs more. Intracranial pressure, because it must be studied.

Problems with the weakness of the arms, legs and facial muscles, and strange sensations in the head or hands: Twenty-five percent reported weakness in the arms or legs. Sixteen percent expressed feelings of weird and strange sensations in there head. This can lead to an altered gait, falling objects, falls, or asymmetric facial expression. These can be symptoms of a stroke. Sudden onset of symptoms is an emergency – you should go to medical emergencies. If you notice a gradual change over time, you should know.

Endometrial Cancer or Uterine Cancer is caused by cancer cell growth directly on the lining of the uterus. Most women mistake the vaginal bleeding to be caused by menopause. This misconception is quite common.

We are going to see some symptoms that may or may not indicate uterine cancer. They may be caused due to other maladies too. To confirm whether any of these symptoms actually leads to uterine cancer, you should go to a doctor to confirm.

Some of the symptoms that have been observed in uterine cancer patients:

* Pain in the pelvic region.
* Pain while urinating.
* Bleeding from the vaginal region.
* Difficulty while urinating.
* Discharge from the vagina.
* Painful sensation while indulging in sexual intercourse.

Studies have shown that bleeding from the vagina is the most common type of symptoms that have been observed. Initially, there might not be bleeding, rather a discharge. This will turn to bleeding later.

Types who are most prone to uterine cancer:

* Women aged 50 years or more.
* Endometrial hyperplasia.
* Women who have an increase in their hormones. These may be women who have fewer children, who have had ovarian tumors or undergone therapy for estrogen replacement.

The treatment is not the same for every woman. Many factors have to be taken into consideration. Factors like age, advance of the cancer etc. have to be kept in mind.

Treatment is either one or a combination of these – surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

In the initial stages, if the spread of the cancer is not that advanced, doctors will try to completely remove the cancerous cells from the woman’s uterus. If the disease has progressed, generally there is some surgery along with chemo or radiotherapy. This helps to stop the growth of cancerous cells in other parts of the body.

The good part about uterine cancer is that if it is detected early, then there is a very good chance of curing it completely. Patients are also advised to take part in trials which can sometimes give very good results.

Alternative treatments also exist for uterine cancer:

* Following special types of diets.
* Acupuncture.
* Meditating also helps.
* Taking sufficient quantity of vitamins.
* Visualization and Spiritual healing.

There are many recorded cases where women have felt that alternative treatments have helped them immensely. What is not recommended is to mix and match. It is always better to stick to a single plan of action – go the traditional way or the alternative, but not both.

Colon cancer is a serious problem and unfortunately affects a great many people. If not detected early, it can cause significant damage and death. So while early detection is key, here are some advanced colon cancer symptoms to be aware of.

First of all it is very unfortunate that many people have no idea they have colon cancer until the symptoms are quite advanced. But in earlier stages, some common symptoms may include fatigue, night sweats, anemia, blood in the stool, diarrhea, constipation, lack of bowel movements or pain in the right shoulder.

It is particularly important to address the situation where you find blood in the stool. There are many reasons why blood might show up in the stool and they have nothing to do with cancer. However this is something which should not be ignored and it is always a good idea to check it out with your Doctor to be sure.

If the disease progresses unchecked, some symptoms of more advanced stages can include abdominal pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, and overall weakness. The patient may also experience bleeding which can add to anemia and weakness and fatigue in general.

As said earlier, the symptoms may not arise until the disease is further along. However if you have concerns, then thorough diagnosis is key. The best way to do so is through a procedure called a colonoscopy. The intent is to identify polyps in the colon and catch them before they become cancerous.

If treatment is required, it is almost always done through surgery. Following this radiation and chemotherapy are used to hopefully eradicate any remaining signs of cancer and minimize its chances of spreading.

Colon cancer is of major concern today and especially for those of us over fifty years old. There is much written about it of late so you have many resources at your disposal.

Here we will briefly go over some of the things to look out for if you’re concerned. Please note that your best resource if you have any concerns is your doctor.

Although colon cancer can be life threatening, this cancer has a good survival rate if caught early enough, so be vigilant. Make sure you have regular checkups and tests as prescribed.

What to look for:

· Have there been any changes in your bowel habits? An isolated event may not be significant but if things have changed enough for you to notice then it is worth checking in with a physician.

· Have you developed diarrhoea that can’t be explained by diet or illness?

· Have you developed constipation for unknown reasons?

· Do you feel like when you do move your bowels that they haven’t totally emptied out?

· Any bleeding? Blood might appear as bright red or very dark in color.

· Any pain in the abdomen?

· Bloating?

· Cramping?

· Vomiting?

· Have you lost weight without trying?

· Do you feel more tired these days?

These symptoms don’t mean that you have cancer so don’t let your imagination go into overdrive. Take note and if they aren’t a onetime thing or you are concerned, then get yourself to the doctor’s office.

Symptoms and signs of colon cancer appear over time. In other words, you may have the illness long before you notice any changes. This is why if you have any questions or concerns, go get yourself tested.

Colon Cancer Prevention

Studies for ways to prevent colon cancer are ongoing but what they do know is that there are certain risk factors for getting this type of cancer. If you recognize yourself as having any of these risk factors, then address them. Be vigilant in getting regular medical examinations.

· Are you over 40? There isn’t anything you can do about your age but just be aware that age is a consideration.

· Overweight and don’t exercise much? The experts seem to believe that obesity and lack of exercise may contribute to the development of cancer.

· Do you smoke? Smoking is a risk factor for many diseases including colon cancer so this is another reason to stop smoking now.

· Alcohol. Drinking alcohol may be a contributing risk factor to note.

Your health is of the utmost importance. Don’t take it lightly. Be aware of your body and notice any unexplained changes. Report them to your doctor and be sure you get regular checkups.
