Cancer is a very big problem, I do not have to tell you that and more and more people get cancer. 50 years ago, cancer was rare, but now it seems that everyone is either directly or indirectly affected by it. There are several ways to treat cancer, some of them are more dangerous, then others. Radiation therapy is considered safer, then for example chemotherapy. So is radiation treatment for lung cancer, your best option?

Have you noticed that doctors are not talking about curing cancer, but treating cancer. Conventional cancer treatments are used to treat cancer, as long as possible and hopefully then the patient will get rid of cancer. There is no question in anyone´s mind, that drug companies control cancer treatments and what ever they say, has to be done, because they have the money.

Radiation therapy may be better than chemotherapy, but someone really wants to be cured of cancer, then these methods are not going to cut it. Or if these methods are going to be used then, they can be many times more effective, by simply using some natural and alternative treatments, vitamins, minerals and supplements.

There are hundreds of alternative and natural cures that are very simple, cheap and effective. Since these methods are not used by conventional medicine, then it means they are not looking out for your best interests. The more expensive and the more money a certain treatment brings in the more it is pushed and pushed, until it is excepted. Not looking into other ways to treat and cure cancer, besides the 2-3 methods, like radiation therapy, is not a very wise thing to do.

Over 350 gentle and non-toxic natural and alternative cancer treatments. Over 2,000 testimonials from people who used these treatments to beat their cancer. If cancer has touched your life ” please, download these ebooks NOW. http://www.natural-cancer-treatments.info

Treating cancer is always very difficult, dangerous and painful. People have to go through a lot of suffering and pain, to have any chance at all. When lung cancer is not discovered early, then in most cases the patient sooner or alter ends up dying. The last moments of a cancer patient is are always very painful. But should this really be that way? Is chemotherapy treatment for lung cancer the best option?

We would all like to think, that doctors look out for our best interests and use treatments, that are the most effective. But unfortunately this is not the case, especially when it comes to treating cancer. The reason is very simple – money. Drug companies make huge profits selling drugs and other less expensive methods like natural cures and alternative treatments, would rapidly decrease their profits.

These days you can find drug ads everywhere, it is all about profits and how effective these drugs really are does not matter. In 2001 different drug companies spent around 15.7 billion dollars on TV and print ads. The message of these ads are very simple, “got a problem, take drugs.”

Nobody is telling us to eat healthy, get our vitamins and minerals and exercise regularly. Each person who has lung cancer, or wants to know more about alternative cancer treatment, has to do their own research. There are a lot of very simple and effective vitamins, minerals and supplements, that help us fight against cancer and other diseases, much more effectively then chemotherapy ever can.

Therefore, if you are not a smoker, knowing that exposure to the fumes can cause you to become sick, you may take steps to avoid it.

In the early stages of this disease, there may not be any signs to suggest that this is what is wrong. Nevertheless, as it progresses, several signs will be evident and some of them are:

Cough

If you have decided to use over the counter medication for a cough and after using it, the cough is still there, it is best to visit a doctor. If you are a smoker, please do not think that it is simply a case of the smoke going down the wrong way.

Chest Pains

If you are experiencing chest pains that can and cannot be explained by you and especially when it is not going away, please do not ignore it, have a doctor check your lungs.

Swollen Neck and Face

An unexplained swollen face and neck can be because of lung cancer.

Pneumonia and Bronchitis

A reoccurring case of Pneumonia and Bronchitis is also an indication that you may have this disease.

It is possible for the disease to move from the lungs, to other parts of the body, especially when it is not treated. Therefore, if you are faced with some or all of these signs, visiting a doctor as soon as possible is advisable because the sooner it is caught, the better the outcome may be.

The leading risk factor for lung cancer is smoking. More than 80% of lung cancers are due to cigarette smoking. The longer a person has been smoking and also the more cigarettes a person smokes a day, the greater the risk is for developing lung cancer. Not only are smokers vulnerable to lung cancer, but the people around them are at a greater risk as well due to breathing second-hand smoke. Non-smokers who are married to smokers are at a 30% greater risk than non-smokers who are married to non-smokers. Marijuana cigarettes may also increase the risk of lung cancer since they contain many of the same cancer-causing agents that tobacco cigarettes have and are inhaled more deeply.

Lung cancer most commonly begins in the cells that line your lungs. Smoking causes the majority of lung cancers — both in smokers and in people exposed to secondhand smoke. But lung cancer also occurs in people who never smoked. In these cases, there may be no clear cause of lung cancer. Doctors have identified factors that may increase the risk.

Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. It is a leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States. Cigarette smoking causes most lung cancers. The more cigarettes you smoke per day and the earlier you started smoking, the greater your risk of lung cancer. High levels of pollution, radiation and asbestos exposure may also increase risk.

Causes of Lung Cancer

Smoking: smoking remains the greatest risk factor for lung cancer. Your risk of lung cancer increases with the number of cigarettes you smoke each day and the number of years you have smoked. Quitting at any age can significantly lower your risk of developing lung cancer.

Diet: Scientists are studying many different foods to see how they may change the risk of getting lung cancer. However, any effect diet may have on lung cancer risk is small compared with the risk from smoking. Eating a lot of fat and cholesterol might increase risk of lung cancer. Drinking a lot of alcohol may raise risk as well.

Family History: Studies have found a chromosome that may be resposible for lung cancer. The chromosome can be inherited. If you have had lung cancer before, there is a chance you may develop another type of lung cancer.

Air pollution from vehicles, industry, and power plants can raise the likelihood of developing lung cancer in exposed individuals. Up to 1% of lung cancer deaths are attributable to breathing polluted air, and experts believe that prolonged exposure to highly polluted air can carry a risk similar to that of passive smoking for the development of lung cancer.

Symptoms of Lung Cancer

People often decide to visit the doctor only after they have been bothered by certain complaints over a period of time. Individuals who have lung cancer frequently experience symptoms such as the following:

Metastasis to the bones is most common with small cell type cancers but also occurs with other lung cancer types. Lung cancer that has metastasized to the bone causes bone pain, usually in the backbone (vertebrae), the thighbones, and the ribs.

Shortness of breath usually results from a blockage to the flow of air in part of the lung, collection of fluid around the lung (pleural effusion), or the spread of tumor throughout the lungs.

A cough that does not go away or gets worse over time should be evaluated by a health-care provider.

Chest pain is a symptom in about one-fourth of people with lung cancer. The pain is dull, aching, and persistent and may involve other structures surrounding the lung.

Wheezing or hoarseness may signal blockage or inflammation in the lungs that may go along with cancer.

Cancer is the malignant growth of cells in the human body. It comes in many forms and each seems to have its own method of causing havoc. Given the variety of cancers, it is hardly surprising that some are inadvertently mixed up when discussed. This is often the case with Mesothelioma and lung cancer.

The first thing to understand is neither Mesothelioma nor lung cancer is ever a diagnosis you want to have. They represent two of the more difficult forms of cancer to treat. That being said, it is often assumed that one is the other and vice versa. This is often due to the fact that Mesothelioma is associated with the inhalation of asbestos which obviously incorporates the lungs. In truth, the two are unique and different. Let’s take a look.

As the name suggests, lung cancer is the growth of mutated cells in the lungs. Unfortunately, it is one of the most common form of cancers, most often linked to smoking and the generally polluted environment we live in. There are different types of lung cancer. While they may spread beyond the lungs, all originate there.

Mesothelioma is not only a brutal form of cancer, it is difficult to pronounce. The name comes from the part of the body effected, the mesothelium. This is a thin lining found throughout the abdomen and chest area. The lining surrounds the major organs and acts as a protective layer. It is actually comprised of two layers with a lubricant found between them. This gives the encased organs the ability to move without being damaged by friction. Examples of such movement would include the heart beating or lungs expanding and contracting.

Mesothelioma is the cancerous growth of cells in this lining. It does not matter where the lining is located. The cancer can be in the lining around the heart, the lungs, the colon or anywhere in the general chest cavity. Mesothelioma does not originate in the lungs per se, but often is found in the mesothelium surrounding the lungs. It can then transition into the lungs.

In summary, Mesothelioma and lung cancer are two distinct forms of abnormal cell growth in the body. They can both impact the lungs, but only lung cancer actually originates in them.

The litigation surrounding asbestos and Mesothelioma has been legendary. It represented the little guy against huge corporate entities. The entities prevailed for a very long time, but ultimately the fact asbestos exposure was causing Mesothelioma and lung cancer could not be avoided. Eventually, the government moved to ban asbestos in products and then the controversy started.

The great asbestos wars of the 1960s, 70s and 80s were iconic. The issue of whether asbestos in products caused health problems was highly disputed. The manufacturers claimed that it didn’t. Workers claimed that not only did it, but the manufacturers had known it did and still released it in products. This created a war of lawyers unlike any seen in a long time.

Eventually, it became clear that the manufacturers of asbestos were in the wrong. As is often the case, the government took its sweet time doing anything but finally did. The response finally occurred on July 12, 1989 when the EPA issued a final ruling effectively banning asbestos in the vast majority of products whether they be building materials, brake pads, insulation or whatever. The story, however, was not at an end.

The manufacturers struck back. They appealed the order and to some effect. In 1991, the Fifth Circuit Appellate Court struck down part of the EPA order. It was a lengthy and complex decision, but essentially found certain areas should not be regulated. This ultimately resulted in the “sort-of” asbestos ban that we have today.

So, where do things stand with asbestos? Generally, asbestos cannot be used in any new products that traditionally have not used it before. Also, it is banned from use in roll board, flooring felt, and commercial, corrugated, or specialty paper. Other than that, there is no ban. If this doesn’t surprise you, it should.

There is a common belief that Mesothelioma cases will start to fade away in the next ten to twenty years as asbestos ban of 1989 starts to take real effect given the 40 year gestation period for Mesothelioma. This assumption is simply wrong. How so? We know that asbestos is still being used widely despite the EPA ban. Where asbestos and humans mix, Mesothelioma is sure to follow.

Four years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The cancerous tumor could not be felt by me or my gynecologist or the surgeon who performed my mastectomy. My film mammogram and my ultra sound were inconclusive, but I had a radiologist that wouldn’t stop. The tumor finally showed up on a diagnostic mammogram. It was difficult to see and impossible to feel because the tumor was in the back of my breast close to the chest wall. I am one of those very fortunate women who have not become a statistic. Over 40,000 women die every year from breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths of women in the United States. (Lung cancer is first.) While there are no guarantees in life, there are measures to take to give you an edge.

There are two types of screening mammograms: digital and film. Get a yearly digital mammogram. They are more definitive than a film mammogram. A digital mammogram takes an electronic image of the breast and stores it on a computer. Images can be enhanced and brightened for a clearer reading by a radiologist. Digital mammograms use less radiation than a film mammogram. A film mammogram takes a picture of the breast on film, like a picture. It can’t be altered, magnified, or brightened.

Early detection of breast cancer can give a woman an 81% five year survival rate. In my case, I have a 20% rate of cancer recurrence so I am close to the 80% five year survival rate. I have one year to go.

But a digital mammogram is not all you can do to give you an edge. Walking everyday for 15 to 30 minutes a day keeps you fit and the weight down. Too many extra pounds increase risk of breast cancer.

Take 15 minutes of that walk in the sunshine without sunscreen. Your skin will absorb healthy amounts of Vitamin D. Studies have shown Vitamin D helps fight breast cancer.

Eat healthy. Lower your intake of fats while increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables. Don’t forget the orange juice.

Reduce stress. Learn to meditate or learn yoga. Stress is a killer. Put your resources to staying healthy in both mind and body.

This has been my regimen for four years now. Every year I look forward to New Year’s Day and this year is no exception.

The organs and tissues of the body are made up of tiny building blocks called cells. Cancer is a disease of these cells. Cells in different parts of the body may look and work differently but most reproduce themselves in the same way.

Cells are constantly becoming old and dying, and new cells are produced to replace them. Normally, cells divide in an orderly and controlled manner. If for some reason the process gets out of control, the cells carry on dividing, developing into a lump which is called a tumour.

Cancer is a term for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and can invade other tissues. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems.

Brain Cancer

A brain tumor is a group or clump of abnormally growing cells that can be found in or on the brain. They’re rare in kids Brain tumors can either start in the brain or spread there from another part of the body – some cancers that start in other parts of the body may have cells that travel to the brain and start growing there.

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. It is a leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States. Cigarette smoking causes most lung cancers. The more cigarettes you smoke per day and the earlier you started smoking, the greater your risk of lung cancer. High levels of pollution, radiation and asbestos exposure may also increase risk. Cancer that forms in tissues of the lung, usually in the cells lining air passages. The two main types are small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer.

It usually spreads to different parts of the body more slowly than small cell lung cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and large cell carcinoma are three types of non-small cell lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer also called oat cell cancer, accounts for about 20% of all lung cancer.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. The two most common types are basal cell cancer and squamous cell cancer. They usually form on the head, face, neck, hands and arms. Another type of skin cancer, melanoma, is more dangerous but less common. Skin cancers are the fastest growing type of cancer in the United States. Skin cancer represents the most commonly diagnosed malignancy, surpassing lung, breast, colorectal and prostate cancer. Cancer that forms in tissues of the skin. There are several types of skin cancer. Skin cancer that forms in melanocytes (skin cells that make pigment) is called melanoma. Skin cancer that forms in basal cells (small, round cells in the base of the outer layer of skin) is called basal cell carcinoma

Ear Cancer

Cancer of the outer ear occurs chiefly in instances where the outer ear has been exposed for many years to direct sunlight. A small and at first painless ulcer, with a dry scab covering it, that slowly enlarges and deepens may be a skin cancer. It is diagnosed by removing a small bit of tissue from the edge and examining it under a microscope.

Head And Neck Cancer

Tobacco is the most preventable cause of these deaths a lump in the neck Cancers that begin in the head or neck usually spread to lymph nodes in the neck before they spread elsewhere. A lump in the neck that lasts more than two weeks should be seen by a physician as soon as possible. Of course, not all lumps are cancer. But a lump (or lumps) in the neck can be the first sign of cancer of the mouth, throat, voice box (larynx), thyroid gland, or of certain lymphomas or blood cancers. Such lumps are generally painless and continue to enlarge steadily.

Released by IARC (International agency for research on cancer), a part of World health organization (WHO), World cancer report is a concise informative manual that have a clear description about global cancer statistics, causes, main types, early diagnosis and effective treatment. The director-general of WHO, Dr. Gro Brundtland states ‘The report provides a basis for public health action and assists us in our goal to reduce the morbidity and mortality from cancer, and to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families, everywhere in the world.’

Major findings

The report has published these results:

Tobacco- the most preventable cancer cause

In the last century, more than 100 million died all over the world from the diseases that are associated with tobacco consumption. These are:

* Cancer

* Chronic lung disease

* Stroke

* Cardiovascular disease

The regrettable fact is, the patients could have been prevented from such medical problem had they not used any tobacco. Lung cancer risk is 20 to 30 times more in smokers than non-smoking persons. About 90 % of all lung cancers are tobacco associated, in both men as well as women. In bladder and renal pelvis cancer, 50 per cent or more are due to smoking. For the cancer of mouth, larynx, pharynx, esophagus the RR is greater than six. For pancreatic carcinomas it is three to four. Stomach, liver, kidney, naval cavity, sinuses, esophagus (adenocarcinoma) cancer and myeloid leukemia two-three RR has been identified by the researchers. Even passive smoking can lead to lung cancer, and increases the risk by almost 20 percent. However, tobacco is not yet known to have any role in the incidence of prostate, breast and endometrial cancer of the uterine, since there is no evidence of this at present.

Infection is a great risk factor

Approximately 23 per cent of malignant diseases in developing countries occur due to the infections. These can cause:

* Liver Cancer (Hepatitis B and C virus)

* Cervical cancer (HPV, human papillomaviruses, HPV)

* Stomach cancer (Helicobacter pylori)

Whereas, in developing world, only 8 percent of all such malignancies are attributed to infectious agents.

Vaccines for prevention: These could be highly effective in treating cancers caused by infections. HBV vaccination is successfully being used to prevent liver cancer in countries where incidences are high and most probably HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccination will also work within three to five years.

Diet is curing

Stomach cancer can be prevented from occurring if the intake of salt-free preserved meat and fish is avoided. In many countries of Europe, such as Switzerland and nearby places, mortality rate has decreased by 60 percent within one generation. It is hoped, in the coming 30 years, stomach cancer can become a rare type in many parts of the world. In many other countries like Japan, Korea, Brazil, and Portugal, where salted food is excessively eaten, the incidence of gastric cancer are high but fallen considerably.

According to studies, taking plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis can prevent or help in cancer recovery.

Strategies for cancer control

The aim of these procedures and techniques is to reduce the occurrence as well as the cancer death rate that is the ultimate consequence of the fatal disease. Post disease life improvement for the patient is also included. Treating the disorder is not enough, the care and health condition afterwards throughout one’s life is considered also that is equally important. Early diagnosis is really essential to avoid further complications and off course the death of affected person.

The report has revealed information about all aspects of cancer including the statistics of incidence by each type all over the globe. Nutrition is a key factor, discussed in detail; various other facts are discovered in it.
