You can easily find tips and information regarding healthy living on the internet. Here is a list of preventative measures you can take in order to help protect yourself from cancer.

In the western world the pace of daily life is severely impacting our food choices. We are busy, stressed and often do not get enough time to exercise or prepare healthy food. In addition many people work in front of a computer all day and do not get enough sunlight. Making the correct lifestyle decisions, especially in terms of diet, is crucial to our health as research suggests poor eating habits increase the risk of getting cancer.
In 2007 the World Cancer Research Fund created an expert report entitled ‘Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective’. Researchers looked at all evidence concerning the links between cancer and diet, exercise and body fat. The overall results were quite predictable, in that the findings ascertained that people can reduce their risk of cancer through healthy eating, regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight. However, the links between body fat and cancer were stronger than previously thought. Continue reading ‘Simple Lifestyle Changes to Prevent Cancer’ »

The odds are very high that you or someone you know had cancer or had died from it. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, after heart disease. Men have slightly less than a 1 in 2 lifetime risk of developing cancer, while for women, the risk is a little more than 1 in 3.
All cancers involve the malfunction of genes that control cell growth and division. Every cell in the body has a program that tells it what to do, called the DNA or the genetic code.
If the cell DNA code gets changed a bit by hormonal imbalance, chemicals, or free radicals, mutations occur. The cells with mutated DNA no longer look like the original cells we were born with. Also, mutations accumulate with age, that’s why about 78% of all cancers are diagnosed in persons 55 years and older.
About 5% of all cancers are strongly hereditary. However, most cancers do not result from inherited genes but from damage to genes occurring during one’s lifetime. Continue reading ‘What You Can Do To Prevent Cancer’ »

HDL or “good” cholesterol can help prevent heart disease, but did you know it can also protect you against cancer? A new study shows that it can cut your risk of cancer by 21% for every 10 point rise in your HDL cholesterol. Here are a few things you can do to pump up your HDL cholesterol.
* Eat soy. Soy protein improves the liver’s ability to product HDL cholesterol. British studies suggest that consuming 14 grams of soy protein daily can raise your HDL cholesterol by 4%. This is the equivalent of two 8-oz. glasses of soy milk or one soy burger. Continue reading ‘Prevent Cancer With Good Cholesterol’ »

How to look at cancer from a NATURAL point of view
Cancer and your diet
The following excerpt comes from a well-known medical magazine and the idea was to deal it with people who are more looking at natural remedies and life without pills.
In cases where patients have already been diagnosed with cancer, treatment is definitely necessary.
— An apple a day plus a veggie-intensive diet are the stars of new cancer prevention studies.
— A chemical in apples helped prevent colon cancer in laboratory studies.
— Three or more servings of vegetables a day — potatoes not included — reduced risk of cancer In studies.
— “It’s been estimated that up to one-third of cancers are related to food we eat. … That’s a lot of preventable cancers” . Antioxidants in fruits and vegetables protect the body from damaging free radicals “like rust-proofing your car. Cyanidins are also found in abundance in red wine and cocoa.
