Skin is the final layer and largest organ of our human system. Skin is made up of multiple layers of mesoderm tissues which protect our muscles, ligaments, bones and other internal organs lying underneath. Human skin is a thin layer which acts as a protecting agent from infections and pathogens, excessive water loss, and insulation. It regulates and maintains the human body temperature without any fluctuations.

Skin helps in sensation, synthesis, storage of vitamin D and vitamin B which helps in cell growth and reproduction, secretion of sweat. For breathing it absorbs small amount of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. There are various skin types like oily, dry, normal, combination skin.

Skin is primarily composed of three layers. Namely epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Epidermis is the outer layer which consists of basal and squamous cells. Melanocyte is a cell in the basal layer of epidermis. This produces melanin under the control of the melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It gives pigmentation to the skin which causes skin tanning. It also protects the deeper layer of the skin from exposure to UV light rays. The dermis which lies below the epidermis consists of blood vessels, connective tissues, hair follicles and the sweat glands.

The subcutaneous layer which is the deepest layer of the skin contains fat cells. Uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells in any layer of the skin ultimately leads to skin cancer. There are 3 common forms of skin cancer and these 3 are classified according to the types of cells affected. The most common form of skin cancer is called as basal cell carcinoma.

This is not a serious one but it requires treatment. This is quite common in the areas which are exposed to sunlight. However this doesn’t spread to other cells. Second form is Squamous cell carcinoma which develops in the middle layer of the epidermis. This is quite dangerous and it may lead to death if it is not treated properly. Third one is malignant melanoma which spreads quickly to other cells and causes quick damage. This type of skin cancer is dangerous if not detected and treated early. People with fair skin are at an increased risk for developing this form of cancer.

To prevent skin cancer better avoid exposing your skin to the sunlight between 10.00am to 4.00pm when the rays are at high intensity. In unavoidable conditions apply sunscreen lotions, Comfortable dressings to cover your hands, neck, face and head.

Surgery is the common treatment to overcome skin cancer diseases. However treatment depends on the patient’s age factor, overall health and medical history. Cancer stages also play a vital role in treatment. It takes about 28 to 35 days for the process of producing a new healthy skin.

According to the Mayo Clinic, all three types of skin cancer are on the rise. These include squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and the most serious form – melanoma. The good news is that almost all forms are preventable by avoiding sun exposure or other forms for ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It is also true that early detection can result in successful treatment of even the most aggressive types of skin cancers.

So what exactly causes skin cancer?

Cancerous cells are most likely to form on parts of your body that have the most exposure to sun. The most vulnerable areas include your face, lips, scalp, chest, neck, arms, hands and women’ s legs. You might be surprised to learn that cell malignant cells can also develop in areas of your body that are rarely (or never) exposed directly to sunlight. These areas include between your toes, under your toenails or fingernails, the palms of your hands, and the genital area.

The risk of skin cancer is not limited simply to people with light complexions. But when dark skinned people do develop melanoma, they are more likely to experience it in parts of the body not usually considered to be sun-exposed.

There is also no standard time table for cancerous lesions to develop. Depending on the type of cancer, a skin lesion can develop slowly over many years or appear very suddenly.

Warning signs of skin cancer are usually visual. For basal cell carcinoma, you may notice a waxy bump on your face, neck or ears, or a flat brown scar-like lesion on your back or chest. Squamous cell carcinoma usually appears as a firm red nodule, or a flat scaly lesion, on the face, neck, ear, hands or arms.

Melanoma, which is the most deadly form of skin cancer, can develop anywhere on the body – although it is found most frequently on the trunk, head or neck of men and the arms or legs of women. Melanoma can appear as a large brown spot with darker speckles, or a mole that suddenly changes color or size or bleeds. Melanoma can also appears as a small lesion with an irregular border and blue, red, black or white spots. Shiny, firm dome-shaped bumps can also be a warning sign of melanoma, as well as dark lesions on the soles of the feet, palms of the hands, or on the mucous linings of the nose, mouth, anus or vagina.

While not all changes in your skin are malignant, it is best to have your doctor examine any changes that you notice. With early detection, most skin cancer can treated. And with proper sun protection, it can often be avoided altogether.

You have spent too much time in the sun and have found brown spots on your skin. Is it cancer of the skin or not? That is something that your primary care physician can answer, but it is good to go prepared. Getting to know all there is about that spot on your skin is the most important thing you could be doing while waiting to go see the doctor about it. There are some things to know to determine if it skin cancer or not. When you go to the doctor you can be prepared with the following information:

1. Oozing or bleeding of the skin- If you have this type of skin, chances are there is a case of skin cancer. This is not always the case, but if you are having such a symptom, it is best to consult your doctor right away. Oozing or bleeding of the skin if you are wondering is it skin cancer or not can be a sure sign that there is a informality in your skin.

2. Change in size or color of skin- This is a subtle change that can be missed if you are not paying attention to the way your skin is forming. Looking at your skin everyday, you can see that it remains mainly one color and size. Lumps and sizes of moles on your skin can be a red flag to the normal type of skin. Be conscience of your body and know when there is a degree of change to your skin.

3. Dark coloring- Patches or dark spots on your skin should be looked at immediately by your doctor. In many cases, people ignore the fact that their bodies have dark spots and don’t bother getting them looked at. With dark spots on your skin, there could be a chance that this is skin cancer. Knowing whether or not it is skin cancer is very important if you are to live longer.

When you have talked with your primary care physician and determined is cancer of skin or not, you can feel better about yourself. It takes a lot of courage to go into your doctor’s office and ask this type of question. There are many cases of skin cancer in the United States to have skin cancer not be taken lightly. When you have researched all there is about cancer of the skin, you can have a better understanding on the prevention of it. Preventing skin cancer from forming is the best you can do for your body. Always be aware of what is going on in your body and consult your primary care physician if you see any changes in your skin.

A few years back, basking under the heat of the sun is recommended for a daily dose of Vitamin D for the skin. Things have drastically changed when pollution attacked and overpowered the environment causing serious skin damages from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. What used to be safe is now considered harmful to the point of causing serious skin disorders such as cancer.

Skin cancer is characterized by the unrestrained proliferation of skin cells that are unable to divide and grow in the normal process. This group of abnormal skin cells can form into a tumor. The tumor can look differently. Some can be small in size, burnished or coarse, and red or bleeding. The sad thing is that the skin tumor can be malignant and the cancer cells can spread to the body’s tissues and organs. It is crucial then to be able to consult the physician as early as possible to get an accurate diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

Better yet, it is wise to adopt a healthy skin care system that will decrease your chances of acquiring such a disease. For those who may have a history of skin cancer in the family however, it is best to conduct regular skin examinations that will facilitate early detection. One may opt to go to the doctor for a proper screening procedure. If you see some suspicious changes in your skin, you can immediately go to your dermatologist to help rule out the possibility of skin cancer.

For a more regular skin care monitoring however, you can do self-examinations while you are at home. The center of attention is the skin and its appearance. Right after taking a shower, get hold of a mirror and position yourself in front of a much larger mirror. Make sure that the room is well-lighted for you to see every bit of your skin’s details. As you explore every inch, take note of your moles, birthmarks, and other blemishes. Try to see if there are significant changes in them in terms of color, texture, or size. In case there is, do not hesitate to have it checked.

On the other hand, non-melanoma skin cancer or cancer which is caused by too much exposure to harmful ultraviolet radiation can be prevented through a well-protected lifestyle. Avoiding staying under the sun for a long period is the most sensible and practical skin care solution that anybody can uphold. This is especially true when the sun is at its hottest in the midday. If sun exposure is inevitable, you should try wearing wide-brimmed hats, long-sleeved shirts, and pants.

Moreover, tanning may be fashionable but sun lamps or tanning beds can prove to be harmful to the skin in the long run. As such, if there is anything that should reach and touch your skin, it would be the skin care products that contain sunscreens with SPF levels that are higher than 15. When you are swimming outdoors or enjoying your time at the beach, apply more sunscreen lotion before and after the activity. There are a whole lot of creative skin care schemes that you can incorporate to your daily lifestyle. Do everything that you can to prevent skin cancer.

The skin is the largest organ of the body but is almost always ignored or abused. Interestingly, the skin plays a number of important functions that can only be maintained with a proper skin care regimen. For one, it is the skin that gives us the sense of touch that sends powerful signals to the brain.

Likewise, it serves as a protective barrier that prevents harmful bacteria to enter the body at any time. Perspiration also brings out excess water or salts away from the body via the skin. At the same time, sweating is the skin’s way of maintaining the body’s normal temperature.

On the other hand, inadequate skin care can cause different levels of consequences. For instance, the skin can age rapidly and wrinkles can start to appear. Skin irritations can similarly flare up when the skin is not properly moisturized. The use of synthetic skin care products can cause allergic reactions that are sometimes difficult to erase. A daily lifestyle that is composed of junk food, cigarettes and alcoholic drinks leave the skin tone uneven and rough.

At the extreme level, a non-existent skin care regimen can lead to certain types of skin cancer. The most common ones are called non-melanoma skin cancers that can either be a squamous cell carcinoma or a basal cell carcinoma. The squamous cells are the flat ones found on the epidermis layer or the utmost part of the skin. Meanwhile, the basal cells are round cells that can be found right under the squamous cells.

Consequently, these two types of skin cancer are ubiquitous because they are the layers that receive excessive exposure from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. It is important then to watch out for the five signs of skin cancer for early detection, diagnosis and treatment. The key is to be able to examine your skin regularly for any noticeable changes in moles, birthmarks, or skin lesions.

The first sign pertains to asymmetry or the irregularity of the shape. For instance, a round mole that doesn’t look even on both sides could be a warning sign. If this first sign is apparent, the next four should be closely watched out for. The next thing to look at is the border that separates the regular skin from the lesion. Once again, borders or edges that are irregular and cannot be easily distinguished can be a cause for alarm.

Similarly, multi-colored skin growths with patches of gray, light pink, black, brown, red, or white are one of the five signs of skin cancer. In terms of size, tumors that are more than ¼ inches wide are usually malignant. They grow fast enough for a person to notice them. Finally, if the mass is elevated above the skin and has a rough surface, it could be cancerous.

All these signs should never be neglected or ignored because the later they are dealt with, the more complicated the skin problem becomes. As such, do not hide the changes that you have noticed and share your observations with a loved one. If you are not ready yet, the first person that you should go to is your physician. He or she will know what to do best and will make you feel less stressed and assured.

Be Alert to the Five Signs of Skin Cancer use my recommendations to take care of your skin.

Intensive research and information sharing is helping to recognize and start early treatment for different types of skin cancer . Some rare skin cancer types are among the many different types of skin cancer that have been identified so far. The rare ones often become life threatening and eventually fatal because so little is known about them. As researchers learn more about the types of skin cancer that exist, changing environmental conditions, carcinogens in certain products or food may keep them busy for a very long time before they find cures are for all skin cancer types.

Pictures of Skin Cancer Types

Pictures of different types of skin cancer (SC) can be easily found online at skin care websites that are mainly designed to sell skin care treatments. There are thousands of sites that have skin cancer types photos that can help people with skin conditions to recognize cancers types. Most product s being sold on line are meant for topical application and if the skin condition persist or the SC types pictures makes it a suspect a visit to the dermatologist should be done immediately.

Different Types of Skin Cancer

The three most common types of carcinoma seen by physicians, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the most treatable. They are often referred to as non -melanoma skin cancers to distinguish them from the more deadly melanoma which is more virulent and difficult to treat.

Basal cell carcinoma usually usually appears as a small, shiny bump or nodule on the skin, occurring mainly on the areas exposed to the sun, such as the head, neck, arms, hands, and face. It is most common in people with light complexions.

Squamous cell carcinoma usually appear s as nodules or as red scaly patches of skin on the rim of the ear, face, lips and mouth. They can spread to other parts of the body.

Melanoma

Melanoma is the least common of these 3 types of carcinoma but it is harder to treat. It is found in the cells that produce melanin which gives the skin its color. It most often appears on fair – skinned men and women, but also affects other skin types and rarely it can form in parts the eyes, mouth, vagina, large intestine, and other internal organs.

Causes and Treatment

The causes for all types of SC are being studied and more innovative forms of treatment are being tested. Some factors that are suspected causes of types of carcinoma are excessive exposure to sunlight, environment al conditions, and carcinogens in the food supply or products and harmful lifestyle habits. Prevention is always better than cures and protection from sunlight and being aware of harmful surroundings or practices and a healthy diet may reduce the risk of developing the main types of carcinoma of the skin.

Many websites and books use types of carcinoma photos to inform the public about skin cancer types and treatments that are available. These types of carcinoma photos may bring peace of mind if the skin problems looks harmless but extreme care should be taken in self diagnosis. Many types of SC are deadly and early treatment saves lives. All types of carcinoma are and especially rare carcinoma types require clinical care by a physician or other healthcare professional.

Pictures of SC types can be used to determine if a skin problem is harmles s or what types of carcinnoma resembles the condition that they are experiencing. Basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma are often easily detected and have a high chance for successful treatment. Of the three types of carcinoma , melanoma is the rarest but receives the most attention because it is more difficult to treat and has a much lower chance for successful treatment.

Genetics and Skin Type

Genetics and skin type have been identified as possible factors that contribute to these 3 types of carcinoma that doctors see most often worldwide. For people who carry these genes the condition is always expected to occur and proper skin care becomes most important in their lives.

Skin cancer is a disease that is very common and more than 1 million people are diagnosed with it each year. It is often not life threatening if caught early enough and it generally responds very well to treatment. The symptoms are easy to determine because it usually appears first as a growth or as an abnormal accumulation of cells on the skin’s surface. It may also show up as a sore that does not heal or that bleeds, scabs over or crusts.

Most skin cancer is painless and it usually occurs somewhere on skin that has been exposed to the sun. Changes on the skin do not necessarily mean that a cancerous condition is present. Most people have moles or other growths that are perfectly harmless and do not require removal. Some people do choose to have these moles removed for cosmetic purposes.

Most of the time, any new growth found on the skin or a change in an old skin growth is not cancerous. However, to be absolutely sure it needs to be evaluated by a medical provider. As they become cancerous, these growths tend to change size or color or turn into sores that do not heal. It is important for individuals to do regular skin self-examinations and to watch for any symptoms of skin cancer. This is very true for people who have had skin cancer in the past because the disease tends to re-occur. Self-examinations are excellent ways to find an early cancer when it’s at its most curable stage.

The most common type of skin cancer, Basal Cell Carcinoma, usually occurs on parts of the body that have been exposed to the sun. These parts include the face, neck, back and chest. Squamous Cell Carcinoma also appear on these areas but are more likely to also appear on the top of the arms and hands. Malignant Melanoma, the most dangerous form, usually forms on the trunk of the body in the area between the neck and the hips. This is an area that doesn’t get constant exposure from the sun. Skin cancer symptoms can be present in any of the body but the preceding are the most common skin cancer sites.

Skin cancer can be a terrible disease depending on the type it is and the severity and location of the disease. It is the most common form of cancer that is being diagnosed today and over 1 million Americans get it each year. Most skin cancer is highly curable if diagnosed early and treated quickly. There are three standard methods of treatment that are used in hospitals today. These hospitals have medical, radiation and surgical specialists providing excellent care to skin cancer patients. They provide the latest in treatment regimens, medical equipment, cancer-fighting drugs and pain-control programs. Physicians direct the patient’s overall care and are always available for consultation and assistance.

Skin cancer falls into two categories – melanoma and non-melanoma. Skin cancer generally starts out in the epidermis (top layer) of the skin and becomes one of three types of cancer. These three types are Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma (both non-melanoma) and Melanoma. The most dangerous and aggressive of the three types is melanoma.

Some cancer clinics are now using a technique known as Mohs surgery in which tissue is removed in thin layers and examined thoroughly under a microscope to determine if any cancerous cells are present. These same cancer clinics use other surgical techniques, chemotherapy and radiation in their fight against the disease. For most skin cancers they use curettage and electrodesiccation, cryosurgery (which is commonly known as freezing), laser beam surgery and traditional surgery.

Most skin cancer treatment can be done in a physician’s office or in a medical clinic and requires no hospital stay. Tumors that are large, being re-treated or are located on or close to the face are usually more complicated and are routinely treated using Mohs surgery. Reconstruction of the surrounding tissue is often necessary to restore normal functioning of the tumor site. This more complicated treatment option sometimes requires a hospital stay. Treatment options are determined by the tumor’s type and size, its location and depth.

Skin cancer is caused due to the abnormal growth of cells on the outer surface of the skin namely the epidermis. This causes formation of lumps on the skin surface and hence the detection at the initial stages. These days’ human-beings are much more prone to skin cancer, due to increased exposure to the sun’s harmful Ultra-Violet (UV) radiations. Hence it is necessary to reduce the exposure towards sun.

This leads to deficiency of Vitamin-D which lessens the body’s immunity and its ability to fight the diseases. Also the application of sunscreen lotions retards vitamin-D synthesis process, which further aggravates cell damage and secretion of hormones that promotes this type of cancer. Cancer in skin can be classified into 3 types namely: melanoma, basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. The conventional techniques available for treatment are:

Application of topical solutions for non-melanoma cancer type

For advanced cases of melanoma: chemotherapy and immunotherapy

Skin cancer is curable if detected at early stages. It is to be noted that, there are no natural remedies available these days to curb i. But it can be used to prevent at the early stages. The various alternative ways for treatment of this type of cancer are enlisted below:

Nutrition/Proper Diet: By consuming food items rich in Vitamin-D, for instance milk, soya milk, cheese, egg yolk, salmon, fish oil, herring, certain types of breakfast cereals, folic acid, food items rich in fats, proteins, antioxidants, carrots, broccoli, pumpkin, cabbage and sardines, is a highly effective and natural way for alternative skin cancer treatment. is to be noted that consumption of well-balanced, healthy diet comprising of low-fat dairy contents, whole grains, fruits and vegetables is essential to cope up with the after effects of chemotherapy treatment. Avoid food items rich in sugar and fat contents, as they may cause inflammation.

Herbs: Usage of herbs in a timely manner with suitable propositions will strengthen the diseased body and gain immunity. Green tea, bilberry, ginkgo, milk thistle, ginger, hawthorn are some of the herbs used to prevent the growth of cancer causing cells. Also powdered turmeric can be applied on cancer lesions to inhibit its growth.

Homeopathy: It is a western medical system for treatment of both external and underlying symptoms.

Natural treatments work not only for curing skin cancer, but for curing all cancers practically. But knowledge is about skin cancer it causes, symptoms and prevention is of prime essence. The most important thing to know is that chemotherapy, radiation, drugs and surgery are not the only options. So get rid of your fears about cancer.

A common concern for many people, especially parents with children, is how to prevent skin cancer. Prevention begins with limiting the amount of ultraviolet (UV) light that your skin is exposed to. This includes the use of UV protective clothing, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.

UV protective clothing is made of a special fabric that is designed to block UV rays from reaching the skin. It is available in swim wear, trousers, shirts, dresses and hats. Some stores even carry accessories such as bandannas, scarves, gloves, wraps and umbrellas, all of which are capable of blocking UV rays – an excellent way to look great in the sun! Clothing and accessories come in all sizes from infant to adults.

Just like sunscreen, sun protective clothing is rated according to the amount of protection it offers. Unlike sunscreen, however, the rating includes both UVA and UVB. The rating, referred to as Ultraviolet Protection Factor or UVF, tells you how much radiation can pass through the fabric. A shirt labelled with a UVF of 40 allows 1/40th of UV radiation to pass to the skin and blocks the remaining 39/40ths. This equates to 97.5% of the sun’s harmful rays being blocked.

UV protective clothing has several advantages. It is put on like regular clothing, making it a boon for parents of children who refuse to stay still for sunscreen application. It is cleaner. Unlike sunscreen, which comes in bottles and may spill in your suitcase, clothing can be taken on trips without being worried about what your suitcase will look like when you arrive at your destination.

You don’t have to be concerned about whether you used enough or try to remember to reapply every few hours to maintain effectiveness. Once you put the sun protection on, it’s on until you decide to remove it. Protective clothing is even friendly to the environment. When used properly, a family of four on a one week summer vacation will (or should) go through one to two standard four ounce bottles of sunscreen per day.

While UV protective clothing has many advantages, it is not the be all and end all of how to prevent skin cancer as it does not provide absolute protection from the sun. Sunscreen should be used on any exposed areas and reapplied every two hours, more often if you are in the water or sweating a lot. Sunglasses that offer UV protection or a wide-brimmed hat should be worn to protect the eyes.

Even when using sun protection, it is important to limit time spent in the sun. This is especially true between the hours of ten and four, when UV rays are at their most intense. Those prone to getting sunburned easily should use caution. These include infants and children, individuals with fair skin and light eyes, and individuals taking medications which increase photo-sensitivity.

When it comes to how to prevent skin cancer, the key is to use multiple methods of sun protection. While there may be other factors beyond sun protection that play a role in calculating your skin cancer risk, every step you take will ultimately lower your risk.
