Men with benign prostatic hyperplasia and they have difficulty in passing urine. Enlargement of prostate gland increases in course of a lifetime putting pressure on the prostatic urethra. It may become more annoying to men and be difficult to control urine. Men may start leaking even when the urinary bladder contains small amount of urine.

Whenever you hear the words “you have prostate cancer” the first thing you may think “how long do I have to live?” However, with all of the treatments and surgical techniques available today, that doomsday sentiment needs to be changed to “what are we going to do to fix it and how long will I be out of circulation?” That’s because robotic prostate surgery and other treatments have changed the game completely.

Once you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, usually treatment starts first with surgery. There are generally two components to the operation: 1) the breast, and 2) the axilla (armpit).
In the breast, there are two choices: 1) lumpectomy (removing the cancer lump and some surrounding tissue), or 2) mastectomy (removing the entire breast). Just a quarter of a century ago, almost all patients had mastectomy, even if their breast cancer is small. But over the past few decades, it has been demonstrated that for small cancers, lumpectomy followed by radiation treatment is just as good as mastectomy. Now, “small” is a relative term. The goal of a lumpectomy is that the breast would still look like a breast after all the treatment is done. In someone with small breasts, a “small” cancer may occupy a significant portion of her breast. An adequate lumpectomy in this case may result in an unacceptable cosmetic outcome, and the patient may actually prefer having mastectomy with plastic surgery reconstruction. Another factor is the number of cancers in the breast. Usually, mastectomy is required for multifocal cancer (cancer discovered in two or more locations in the same breast)

It goes without saying that “chances” and percentages should be taken for what they are – an estimate. If something happens 9 out of 10 times, there is still a decent chance that you might be that 1 out of ten times. The survival rate of any cancer should be taken only as a guideline, not anything more than that. Patients beat cancer all the time and there is no reason that you can’t either.
The survival rate with Mesothelioma is done on a five year projection. This simply means that the number of patients surviving the cancer are compared through each of the five years after diagnosis. For instance, 39 percent of patients diagnosed with Mesothelioma survive for more than a year. Unfortunately, the numbers go down from there with 20 percent surviving 2 years, 11 surviving three years, 10 percent surviving four years and 9 percent surviving 5 years. All and all, these are not great numbers. Continue reading ‘Mesothelioma – What Are Your Chances After A Diagnosis?’ »

Recent studies show that the breast conservation surgery is the main model for treating stage ?and ? of breast cancer. China is now 40% of patients willing to accept breast-conserving surgery, and there is a certain gap between the developed countries. For patients with early breast, conserving surgery is a safe and effective therapy, but many women do not want to accept patients with breast-conserving surgery, the fear still remain in the breast cancer cells so that endanger life. Even if the line is not suitable for breast-conserving surgery in patients with breast removal of the need not always mean that breast and say “Good-bye.” With the progress of new medical research, As the years pass by, there are improvements in medical technologies, which prolonged the lives of the aging population who had breast cancer. Not all patients are suitable for breast conserving surgery in the following.
The patients who Lesions greater than 4cm and ill defined margin are not suitable for breast conserving surgery; Axillary lymph node enlargement, The patients with lymph node metastasis, Patients with multiple lesions are not suitable for breast-conserving surgery. The people with collagen vascular disease is also not suitable for breast surgery. Smaller breasts, but larger tumors, patients who can not keep breast appearance after surgery. Because the early and mid-pregnancy patients not receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy they are not suitable for breast conserving surgery. But late pregnancy patients can practice breast-conserving surgery, Radiotherapy after delivery.

Robotic surgery, robot assisted surgical procedures are being used for many types of cancer surgeries including prostate and gynecological cancers. Being diagnosed with prostate cancer raises many questions. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men. As the first step in taking control of your health, it’s important to learn about all available treatment options and the benefits and risks of each.
Robotic surgery uses the latest advances in technology to combine the skill and judgment of an experienced surgeon with the incredible flexibility and precision of a robot. Robotic system for surgery is a kind of computer-integrated surgery (CIS) system. Almost all operations in hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery could be performed successfully with Da Vinci S system. Robotic surgery will improve the development of minimally invasive surgery. At Roswell Park, surgeons use the da Vinci® Surgical System to perform operations that used to require open surgery. In 2000, the world’s first robot for surgery, “Da Vinci” has been released on.

With more than one type of surgery options provided by prostate cancer treatment centres, it may become confusing which one to opt for. Considering one’s age, stage and type of the disease, and comfort of the patient the right prostate cancer surgery can be chosen. Here is a briefing of the different prostate cancer surgery options.
Robotic Prostatectomy is the most advanced prostate cancer surgery available. The treatment involves surgical removal of prostate gland and surrounding areas using the da Vinci Surgical System. Since it is a new technique not much data is present to suggest about drawbacks of the technique. But, it has been observed that patients opting for robotic prostatectomy are less likely to suffer from urinary incontinence, impotency and blood loss during surgery. The treatment is the most suitable choice when prostate gland the surrounding cancerous tissues need to be removed.

One of the most dangerous diseases in this planet is cancer. Throughout the years, it has killed millions of people all over the world, making it a global epidemic. Most people are afraid to suffer and spend the rest of their lives living with this illness. However, using modern medications, cancer is preventable and even treatable. Nowadays, the scientists across the world are working very hard to invent medications that can cure this terrible disease.
One of the most common types of cancer is thyroid cancer. This disease is more common in women than in men. The exact cause of this type of cancer is still unknown. However, scientists suspect that possible causes include a family history of goiter, exposure to high levels of radiation, and certain hereditary syndromes.
So how you do know if you or your family members are suffering from thyroid cancer? The most visible symptom is a lump or a nodule in the thyroid region of the neck. Some other symptoms include difficulty in swallowing, throat or neck pain, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, excessive cough and vocal changes. If you or your family members notice some of these symptoms, you should take immediate actions before things get worse. Continue reading ‘Knowing the Symptoms of Thyroid Cancer’ »
