Eating Broccoli Regularly Cuts the Risk of Prostate Cancer

Although science and technology has developed tremendously, the number of victims prone to prostate cancer is on rise. The lack of awareness and knowledge about the disease is the main cause for the increase in number of victims succumbing to this disease in recent time. Even younger men are affected with this stealth killer. There are many causes for the disease such as hereditary, gene alteration, environmental effects and so on, but the main cause of the disease is still unknown.

Early symptoms of the disease include increased frequency of urination, low pressure of urine flow, blood stains in urine or semen, fever etc. There are so many treatment options for the disease, but the treatments bring adverse side effects to the body along with side effects of the disease. Prevention is best way to avoid the disease and lead a healthy life. (more…)

Cancer Treatments And The Death Of Common Sense

We have a bizarre system in place today that says when someone is diagnosed with cancer we must subject the body to mutilating surgery, burn the body with nuclear radiation or we poison the body with chemotherapy to try and remedy the problem. All of which have life threatening side effects.

When a person is first diagnosed with a serious health problem like cancer, they are already undergoing a major health crisis so does it make sense to harm the body further in an attempt to remove these unwanted growths.

All cancers are self caused and all cancers happen for a reason and that reason is because of the way we are now living. A cancer growth is only a sign that the cells of the body didn’t stop dividing when they were supposed to and surgery, radiation and chemotherapy are not going to fix that. A wise patient will first apply some common sense to the problem, something that is seriously lacking in today’s world of mainstream treatments for cancer. (more…)

Alternative Colon Cancer Treatments

Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, well-know surgeon and inventor of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, believed most health issues are due to a poorly functioning colon, hence his creation of a bran cereal to aid in colon function. There are many colon cancer treatments to revive an under-performing colon. This means you no longer have to rely solely on the conventional medical treatments that have serious side effects.

Alternative Colon Cancer Treatments

There are many different alternative colon cancer treatments that you may choose to undergo. Most of which you can try on your own. Though you will need to talk to your doctor before trying any of these treatments. One of these treatments is called oxygenation. The oxygen treatment is rooted on the idea it can eliminate cancerous cells. It is also comforting to know that there are no man-made chemicals in this treatment unlike in chemotherapy. (more…)

Bowel Cancer and the Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

Cancer of the bowel or colorectal cancer as it is commonly called is cancer that goes after the cells that are around the bowel itself. This type of cancer is really very curable if caught and treated early on. And early on treatment is the key here. If it becomes advanced, the chances of a successful remission of this cancer are smaller.

Basically what happens in bowel cancer, is that there is what is referred to as a mutation occurs. The cells which link back to genes, begin to become uncontrolled, and thus, a number of cells bunch together, forming cancer. Polyps are actually what these formations are called, and in this stage of pre-cancer, are called an adenoma in medical terms. Polyps can be removed via a colonoscopy if found in time. If not found soon enough, these formations of polyps will continue their growth on and on, until they are lodged in the colon, forming the cancer growing environment there. So this explains why a colonoscopy is good preventive care.

Once these polyps have now turned cancerous, you would begin to notice symptoms. The main thing a person will then notice is bleeding from the rectum. (more…)

Lung Cancer – Symptoms & Treatments

Cancer is a class of diseases characterized by out of control cell growth. Lung cancer occurs when this uncontrolled cell growth begins in one or both lungs. The lungs are two large spongy organs located inside the chest cavity. Air is breathed into the trachea and moves down two tubes called bronchi, each going to a lung. Lung cancer occurs most often in adults between the ages of 40 and 70 who have smoked cigarettes for at least 20 years.

Over 1,400 Victorians are diagnosed with lung cancer every year. Only about 2% of those diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to other areas of the body are alive five years after the diagnosis, although the survival rates for lung cancers diagnosed at a very early stage are higher with approximately 49% surviving for five years or longer. How Improvements in Treatment Have Reduced Problems Associated With Treatment

The report, in the September 2009 edition of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute estimates 1.3 million additional men have been diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer since 1987. Authors claim most of this group are likely to have been overdiagnosed.

“Given the considerable time that has passed since PSA screening began, most of this excess incidence must represent overdiagnosis,” the authors write. “All overdiagnosed patients are needlessly exposed to the hassle factors of obtaining treatment, the financial implications of the diagnosis, and the anxieties associated with becoming a cancer patient…”

The increased diagnosis has been most dramatic among younger men: more than tripling since 1986 in men aged 50-59 (from 58.4 to 212.7 per 100, 000) and more than a sevenfold increase in men under age 50 (from 1.3 to 9.4 per 100,000). (more…)

Questions and Answers About Cancer, Its Causes and Its Treatments

We don’t have cancer prevention today and nearly everyone is ignorant about its causes. People are faced with so many distorted facts about cancer and too many just accept what’s on offer. Here are some common questions I’ve been asked about cancer so you can gain a little knowledge about the subject.

Q. Why is there so much cancer now days?

A. It’s because of the way we now live compared to 40 to 50 years ago when cancer was rare and it’s these changes that has caused the problem.

Q. What is the cause of cancer?

A. Cancer doesn’t have a single cause, it has many causes, our wrong food choices being just one of them but it’s the most important cause. Other contributing factors are our sedentary lifestyle and the chemicals we encounter everyday. All these causes weaken our defence system which allows cancer cells to become established.

Q. My friend’s father had treatment for his cancer but died a year later, why didn’t it cure him?

A. The treatments now days are only removing cancer growths; they don’t look at the root cause why it first appeared so naturally it will just reappear again, usually in some other location.

Q. If my cancer has reappeared is it too late to do something about it?

A. No, it’s never too late, the human body has a natural ability to heal itself but it does need a little help by making simple lifestyle changes. (more…)

What Are the Symptoms of Prostate Problems?

Published: Dec 4th, 2009 | Author: steffan kuntz Add Comment

It is quite natural for someone to face prostate problems. Especially for men crossing the age group of 50 years are more vulnerable to it. In many cases, the bacteria enter into the bladder and cause infection which results in swelling and blockage of the urinary tract. It is important that we report or consult about it with the doctor or the physician as soon as we identify symptoms. For this we need to be well versed with the symptoms. In the initial stages, there are very symptoms which are difficult to identify. Many people don’t realize that they are suffering from prostate problems until they get diagnosed in regular checkups.

a) Once you discover some irregularity in urination, it is better to go for a check up or medical test. A sample blood test or urine test will be enough to identify the problem.

b) There are cases where diagnoses have failed to detect the prostate problems. In these situations, we need to be careful and note the urination habit and the any feeling of pain. (more…)

Breast Cancer Survival Rates – What Does Breast Cancer Survival Rate Tell You

The sad truth is that not everyone, who undergo treatments for breast cancer, are able to survive. A lot of people die every year and there is very little we can do about it. That is why it is necessary to know more about breast cancer survival rates and what treatments you should then choose. The more you know about cancer the better your chances are.

The rates of survival certainly depends on many different factors and the more advanced the cancer is, the lower the survival rates are obviously. The breast cancer stages are the best way to determine the rate of survival for breast cancer patients.

For example Stage 0 means the cancer cells can only be found on the walls of the lump inside the breast and that the cancer is non-invasive. Stage 1 of breast cancer means that the cancer has become invasive already and that the tumor is around 2 cm long. Stage 2A means that the tumor is around 2-5 cm long. (more…)
